What's the fastest way to remove spindles..

from a donor Granada or other car ?
I just disassembled the front suspension off my '69 Mach to do a rebuild and install some Granada discs. It's definitely a time consuming job with alot of steps to follow !
I purchased the Granada discs already removed(they wouldn't let me at this particular yard). What is the fastest/easiest way to remove spindles on a donor car out in a salvage yard ? I have access to another car and am cuious if I remove coil springs and strut rods every time, or am I missing a short cut ?

Best way i've found is to use a BFH (big frickin hammer) and a pickle fork with the right gap for what ever vehicle your doing (tie rod one works on all my joints on the '70).

Wedge the pickle fork in, and persuade is as deep as you can with the hammer so that it is putting pressure between the control arm and the spindle. Then take the hammer (I like a 3lb sledge for my BFH) and whack the spindle itself where the ball joint goes through. just a couple whacks should shock it enough to come free.

fastest way would be use a torch and blow through the strut rod, upper, and lower arms. BUt that is assuming you have access to a torch and that the yard would allow you to do this

Heheh, at the yard where I got mine, they had a 70's T-bird with no windows and a cutting torch setup in the back seat. The grungiest guy you've ever seen just drove up, jumped out and torched through the control arms.

I like the torch idea. I actually have a portable unit, IF they will let me cut it that's what I'll do (Thanks)!! I used pickle forks to take mine off of my car, but will the spindle come out without loosening the strut rod or coil springs ?
