What's the fix for a noisy speedo?

I heard a squeeking, whirring noise and thought it was my clutch or something but i stuck my ear to my instrument gauge and it's coming from there. I'm pretty sure it's the speedometer or the cable. I have the dash apart so now's the time to fix 'er. Any suggestions?

There are speedo lube kits available at most parts stores (as mentioned by rat) or... what I did was disconnect my cable at both ends and used pressurized air to shoot graphite through it. (Ummmm... don't shoot the graphite towards the side that end in the car... that would be messy. hehe)

Oh ok... well i don't have any pressurized air... i'll just get a new cable.

Simply disconnecting it at the tranny will do away with the noise completely. Probably not the solution you had in mind though. :) The other guys have you covered - cable/lube first, then speedo itself if the cable doesn't fix it.
