whats the popping & missing from?

i just put a overhaul kit on my car mainly cuz i blew a head gasket and didnt have the money for a complete rebuild, but now when i i drive the car to say 4k rpms and let off the gas the exhaust pops.
and when i accelerate the car acts like somthing holding it back then it pops a coulpe times and its fine. when i race my car its fine...any ideas?

oh ya its an 88 gt mustang 5.0

timing could be off...check that and your fuel pressure. those would be the first things id check

times fine, ive played with the time between 10 and 18 and the best spot was 13 so thats where it is. checked the fuel pressure its fine....dont c y it would be off cuz i just installed a new 155lph pump and inline fuel filter about 6 months ago....any other ideas?

didnt your avatar used to be different? anyways, i cant really think of anything else. im no expert on this stuff

actualy i never had one till now........first time i started my car after installing the overhaul kit, the lower intake gasket shifted and all the coolant went though the cylinders....could the spark plugs be bad? plus could a bad cap and rotor do this aswell?

yeah, i would definetly change your plugs and wires, cap and rotor. it cant hurt thats for sure

i had the same problem. it turned out to be my plugs and cap/rotor.
