Im making some custom stuff,

Need to know the size of the door speakers because im too ass lazy to take my door panel off and measure it

Anyone got the size?

Like whats the size of the replacement speakers?

Thanks

Dash = 3.5"
Door = 6.5"
Rear = 6x8"

I just put 6.5" in my doors Friday. They fit perfectly.
Crutchfield.com lists 5.25" and 6.5" for the doors. The 6.5" I installed fit perfectly in the holes.

BP, that is weird. i was talking from personal experience and now i wonder if it is different for verts (mine is an 88 GT vert). i had to hog the hole out to get the 6.5's in the door.
i know the rears are different, but figured the door might be kinda standard (same guts in the doors of all models).

I dunno.... I thought they were all 6.5". I had these 6.5" sonys in my old 90' GT and just put them in my current 91' LX. They fit in the holes perfectly with no spacers or alterations to the hole. Neither the GT nor the LX had speakers in the doors, so I didn't have an original one to compare to.
Crutchfield lists both 5.25" and 6.5" for 87-93 Mustangs. :shrug:

based on what you, Xherdlr and i have seen, im am thinking the verts may have smaller openings. not that any of this matters, LOL, it is just nice to know.

Depth varies from speaker to speaker, some will fit and some won't.

How custom are you trying to do? Fit it under the stock panel? Something like mine (you saw them, right?)?

The speakers I used wouldn't fit as stock, but since I didn't reuse the stock panel it didn't matter.

Yeah Im gonna go with something like yours Dave,

If I can get away with running bigger speakers then great,
the bigger the better, Takes the noise away from the squeaks and rattles :)

But im making it out of aluminum,

so it wont actually stick that far out, however If people have done this with no clearance issues mabey ill take a trip and buy some new speakers

I do have one,

Its under the passenger seat, and it feeds the speakers itself,
And I have nice new speakers all round, and a nice face too,
I dont remember part numbers but its a nice system,
But I feel a little more int he front,

Id like a Sub in the back,
But theres no where to put it in a Hatch :(

What do you mean nowhere to put it in a hatch? theres tons of room back there unless you have a Bottle back there or something else. I have a huge box with two 12" subs, dome tweeters built into the box and an amp all in the hatch. If your looking for a custom room saver than you could always fit a single sub in the spare tire well.

Go to crutchfield.com, set up a "my vehicle" profile, then search all speakers that will fit your door panels. They'll show you the 5.25s that will fit and the 6.5s that will fit. Then you can pick what you like and go from there.
