What's the widest tire you can run on pony rims?

I have 245/50R16's on them now. There meaty but was wondering if anything bigger will fit on there?
Pics if you have them.

245 50 16

I had 245 50 16 on my 1988. Did not like the lateral movement from side to side which affected handling. I bought 225/55 16 BF goodrich and no side to side movement.
I do not have enough grab from a stop or in lower gears.

I should go to 17" with 265 rear and 235 fronts.

I do not go to drag race, if I did would buy drag radials for and wider rims.

i have 255-50-16's on pony wheels...close to the exhaust...but they do not rub...i only have them on the back though..

I had 245/50/16's on mine and I liked them just fine. Handled as well if not better than it used to when I had the 225/60/15's on my turbine wheels?

Ok, so the 245 is about the biggest I can get. I have 225 50's on the front now.

I was just wondering cause my buddy and his damn camaro has 315's on the back, and its ridiculous.
