No one's going to believe this story but here goes...
In 1994 a friend of mine helped his mother find a brand new 5.0L GT. At the time she was 74 years old. She had been driving a 91 5.0L coupe, and decided she wanted the new body style. To make a long story short, she now wants to sell the 94 and get a new Shelby Cobra and it seems like I may have the chance to buy the 94 model.
It only has 44 thousand miles on it, and basically has never gone over the speed limit. She does drive it about three days per week so I'm not really worried about issues from it sitting too long. It has always been garage kept, and it's completely BONE stock as it came. It's the red color and has the 17 inch wheel package that it came with. The interior is solid black with leather seats and the drivers seat looks like it's never been sat in.
She lives near Highland Park in Dallas and has always had the same shop do every oil change for her. The car has never needed any major service to the drivetrain, and still has the original A/C system, water pump, etc. The only thing replaced by the shop was hoses and a belt a while back because they convinced her that it was needed.
Several years ago a car next to her at a stop light was hit and pushed into the driver's side door. She's so particular about her cars that she demand the insurance company put a new Ford door on the car instead of fixing the damadged one. I personally know the body shop who did the work and saw the car after it was done and everything matched down to the amount of orage peel in the paint. It was flawless work.
The ONLY thing wrong with the car now is that recently she opened her door to enter the code on her community gate keypad and bumped the door into it. She was so upset that the door was scratched she wanted to have the same guy who fixed the door last time do it again.
This is literally the car that everyone is looking for. You know, the one a grandma only drove to church and back. The darn thing looks and drives like new and has never had an aftermarket part bolted on it, or a french fry dropped on the floor. These types of situations don't come along that often so I hope when she decides to sell it I get the call. I've already told my friend that I'll take it unless she wants some astronomical price for it. The only thing it has that I don't like is an automatic transmission, but people are telling me that's not really that big of a deal.
So...
What's this car really worth?
