for the past week or so my car has been running crappy took it out of storage about 3 weeks ago and its been on the road for about 2 weeks now. atfirst i thought it was the timing. fixed that. got a little bit better but still not 100% so i replaced the ignition module... no change at all. messed with the timing again today with no change, only way i can get the car driveable now is if i leave the spout disconnected (locking total advance to around 12) but i still get some poping and some low RPM spuddering/bucking (ill just blame that on the cam)

well tonight on a little drive a new problem came up. i went WOT in 1st gear at around 3500rpm and the stock tach jumped waaaaaay up to around 7K but my aftermarket tach went up like normal and the engine definatly didnt sound like it went up to 7K. fearing my almost new clutch was slipping i stuck it in 5th at around 50mph and got on it and the rpm went up as speed increased. would this be from the spout being disconnected?

should i replace the PIP/Stator or just replace the whole dizzy?

coil is an accel coil BTW. i need the car running decent ASAP so i can drive it to the tuner

lift the hood at night in the dark, dark as possible and crank car and look everywhere for a short (glowing spark) especially around coil, distributor and sparkplug wires and post results and if i suspected the dist. pip.stator or dizzy i would replace it with click on link below

How does it run if you lock the timing at around 25*? This is a better real-world timing setting than 12* locked out.

Retrieving codes is the next thing to do. Look for a TFI code.

Good luck.

Stock tach is broke... mine does the same thing. Only options are kill the power to it or ignore it... or buy a new one, but why when you have a GOOD one next to it.

Definately pull the codes. And as for the spark around the coil. Mine sparks between the housing and the frame. 4 different coils this past week. ALL of them do it. Stock coil, Aftermarket Jegs, TWO different BRAND new MSD coils.

The best improvement part that I've installed to help my car was an MSD dizzy. Really helped smooth things out and while it still doesn't idle perfect all the time, it's MUCH better.
