I am trying to sell my 99 GT (in the classified section), and have had a few inquires, but no serious buyers. I would appreciate everyone's input on why this car is not selling, or what is not appealing. It is super clean and low miles...I just don't get it. It not selling is hampering mods on my other stang. PLEASE HELP!!!

The fact that your car is modded (even though it's light in modifications) brings down the value of the car as well as being a turn off most buyers. Buyers like myself have their own ideas on what mods should be installed and prefer a vehicle in its stock form if it were to be purchased. The "skull" for a shift knob doesn't look that great in my opinion. Makes the car have an "evil" kind of theme for me. Just giving you my 2 cents. The sequential tail lights are okay for me, though not sure what everyone else would think about them.

I'd probably show pictures of a clean engine bay to enhance the appeal. I just steamed cleaned and detailed my engine bay and it looks like it just came out of the factory.

The only mods are a JET chip and CAI. Other than that bone stock. Tons of pics, and multiple angles on FS listing. Have no clue what the deal is!!

Ouch. It's probably that Jet chip. It's like having electronic aids installed.

It's also probably due to the fact that your car is just one of 54,000 other mustangs for sale online. Your best bet for selling a car is locally via newspaper ads or a "for sale" sign in the window. People don't really buy a car online very often compared to other online purchases.

I have had a car for sale for a while and dropped the price, and it still has not sold. You will have to just wait and see. I just want to sell to someone who will appriciate the car as much as I do!

True, it was kinda a pain to shrink it b/4 getting it chromed, too!

I DO have all of the original stuff that I replaced with aftermarket.

I guess patience is a virtue, one I do not possess!!

the word "modification" in dictionary meaning is anything that is changed from its original state. it may not be a performance mod... but still would influence my decision to buy it. but he said below that he has the original shifter, so i'd be okay with it.

Well, getting it chromed wasn't the hard part (approx. $40), but shrinking the human skull was rather difficult!!

Patience. Selling a car on your own is always a pain in the ass. I'd try the newspaper, and one thing I did was I knew of a credit union that had about a 5 page booklet that had everything under the sun for sale in it. It was free to put your ad in it if you had an account there. So I opened an account and put $5 in it, and put the ad in the booklet. One month later I sold it from being in that booklet. The only person that looked at my Mustang bought it from the ad I placed. I would at least give yourself till Labor Day as a goal date to have it sold by. Thinking your going to sell it within a week or two just is'nt reasonable enough time.

Selling local is the way to go. The internet is saturated with too many good deals. Selling local also gives you the advantage of a less informed seller (compared to trying to sell it to someone on a Mustang site, who knows everything about the car).

I've given up tryin to sell my car...all the inquiries I got when on autotrader even were whack...had a few close calls with buyers, but nobody would go through with it. I'm just gonna keep it till I have some more cash...then it'll get nasty...real nasty
