Now, I understand that if you have a bone stock looking/sounding mustang most people may not care, unless your a stang fanatic like myself and most you guys here. But my car doesn't look like it's unmodified really anymore and when I drive passed or next to another nice looking stang I give them a thumbs up or peace sign or something and it's like everyone else doesn't really care to acknowledge a fellow stanger. I tend to notice this alot with the 05+ stangs more so. Almost like they feel superior to non 05 models. I get more comments from random people then anyone in a mustang on the streets.

I guess I just treat other car enthusiasts the way I would want to be treated in return. Maybe some of you feel the same, or maybe I'm just a retard LOL.

Well, there is a new bread of mustang enthusiasts that didn't know that the mustang existed before 05. So, yea, there is going to be a little bit of an superiority complex happening.

I have experienced this as well. I have owned several mustangs in the past and have enjoyed the waves at other stangers. I now own an 06. I notice that when I wave at other 05+ stangers majority of the time I get a "who the hell are you look." A new generation of Mustang owners are upon us and they don't know the history. Its just a car.

I don't bother waving anymore, unless I'm at the track, or acknowledge that someone put in a lot of wrench time.

Oh, I'll also wave if it's a hot chick.

When I was trying to gather a list of people interested in getting together (no local club here a few months ago) you wouldn't beleive how many people gave me attitude. I finally quit aproaching people. Foortunately for me, someone else finally put something together. I used to wave to other mustangs, but really don't anymore. sometimes if the mood strikes me, but very rarely.

You'd think that anyone who owns a mustang would be an enthusiast to some degree. I mean, they could have bought any car, but they chose a mustang. I think it's too bad more people aren't freindly.

Corey is pretty much right. In my experience, very few owners of S197 cars are enthusiasts. There are certainly exceptions, but by and large most think that it's just a car.

Personally, I'll give a or a wave to most any really nice muscle car or street rod that I see around. Sometimes they reciprocate and sometimes not, but at least I made the effort.

I agree... I'm stationed on Ft Lewis and there are an abundance of stangs here. Most of which are either 05+, Fox body, or late 60's. Most of the time I don't even bother waiving to the 05+ stangs nor do I wave at the ones that have been ragged out and show no appearance of attempted restoration. I definately waive at the ones that have nice stangs and ones that are in progress (with the limited pay uncle sam lets us have) and ALWAYS return salutes, even if they are driving a stang that they obviously don't care about because its the right thing to do.

But I can sort of understand why people don't waive just simply due to the fact that they have had no guidance and are retarded. I grew up in a wealthy corvette enriched family and almost every single corvette driver waives at another without question. So sometimes out of habit I even find myself waiving at stang owners that don't even deserve the courtesy.

Since I picked up the 07, many other 05+ owners I wave to rarely return the gesture. I've noticed more of attitude toward me from owners of older gen Mustangs also. Hmmmm..... I get many more waves back from pre-05 owners when I'm out in the 96 GT convertible.

This is partly the reason I feel the way I do. I find it amazing how much respect bikers have for anyone riding a bike, doesn't matter what kind or what condition.

The complaint I have is that really other than the Mustang, the corvette community is the only major car that has I certain "family" feel to it. Sure there are way more stangs then vette's on the road, more models/versions and definately much broader price range, but seriously.....the lack of "family" feel is not what I would think it to be. I try to acknowledge 05+ cars, but they tend to give me that cocky "my car is newer and better" attitude. But hey...if you see me around I'm not going to be like that.

I rarly wave but usually always nod the ol whats up and smile. I get about the same responce in the foxes i have as i did in my 95. This is kinda off subject but i get way more people trying to race me in my 4 banger then the 93 peace

I actually get more waves and thumbs up from vette owners. I can appreciate all sports cars so I don't understand the attidude (my car is better than yours).

i only wave at the cars, not the people(well if i dont know the person, not many real mustang guys around here)...but sometimes i just stare at their beautiful car as they drive by and forget to wave

I see it, too. Usually, its the Shelby guys (GT and GT500), Saleen, Roush, Cobra, Bullet, Mach, clean Fox, etc that are into their Mustangs. Not so may regular GTs, and even less V6s. With the V6 being out, most of them dont care what it is they are driving, some do (like some members here on Stangnet). you can usually tell if the person is into their Mustang. If you hear aftermarket exhaust, its a safe bet that they will aknowledge another well equiped Mustang.

Drivin the 2000 S281SC, it can even be tough to be aknowldged by other Stang drivers.

Heck, I even gave a guy in a clean WS6 a thumbs up in the S281SC and he kinda looked at me like I was crazy.

I guess we could all get Saleens... I think its like a law to wave at other owners...

Not even. I chased a S197 S281 down in the S281SC over the 205 bridge one evening and pulled up next to him and he wouldnt even look at me.

Well I wave at fellow Stangers, except for a few locals that are clueless. There are alot of out-of-towners here and as I had to wait alot of years to get back into a Stang, I feel it's almost like my duty to wave as a "greeting to the area" to anyone in a Stang that is passing through. But thats just me. Even on the road I try and acknowledge other Stangers. Some wave back.....to heck with the rest.

Alot of my friends have VW's and Audis. When i ride with them its crazy how many waves and thumbs up they get from fellow VW/Audi drivers... not so much Porsche...LOL.
