Still searching for wheels.
When using 15" x 7" wheels the preferred backspace is 4.25".
How much of a problem is a 3.75" or 4.5" vs. the 4.25 (preferred)? (zero offset)
Tire size to be>> 215-60-15
TIA

215 60 15 3.75 15x7 - rubs fender lips for most people
215 60 15 4.25 15x7 - fits for most people
215 60 15 4.50 15x7 - contacts upper control arm for everyone with stock suspension
What about a 66 stock rear suspension with a 1959 9". I'm going to put the 215 60 15 4.25 15x7 on the front. Do you know the widest 60 series I can go on the rear with what backspacing? Would I be better off with a 7" or 8" wheel.
That 9 inch is the same width as stock.
You can look here for a large listing of what has worked for different folks.

I run 235 60 15 on 15x7 Magnum 500 4.25 backspacing rear with a Versailles rear end. I think this is as big as I can go.
The wheels that I'm looking at have a 4.125 backspacing. Do you think the extra 1/8" to the outside would cause your tire to rub? I know an 1/8" isn't much but sometimes small amounts can make a big difference.
Hey, Im new to the forum, but I have had a 235/60 15 on weld draglites 15x7 with 4.5 b/s for several years. The rear springs are the reverse eye type with QA1 adjustable shocks and I have had no issue with tire rubbing even with four people in the car going over bumps at speed. This was with a factory 8 in rearend and with an older style 9 in rearend.
