Can anybody help with hubs?

Has anyone replaced their hubs/wheel bearings? I think mine are shot, but it is a pretty low mileage car. Do the lowering springs give the bearings a harder life/ wear quicker? Also what size is the spindle nut that holds the hub on? thanks

The bolt holding the hub is a 35mm and is torqued at 280 ft lbs i think.

I am getting a lot of noise from the front end of the car and there are some strange noises too. If I am backing up and hit the brakes, there is a clunk, I checkes all of the brake hardware and couldnt find anything loose? Any Ideas?

for the clunking noise check your driveshaft, your u-joints might be bad.

A way to check to make sure you need to change your hubs is to jack your car up, then see if you can wobble your wheel, if you can you need new hubs.

The Haynes manual says 221-295 ft.lbs. So you have a decent range to get it right. That's a lot of torque!!!

Doesn't sound like wheel bearings at all. I would second the driveshaft.

I don't think it is the driveshaft, it feels like the front brakes, and it will make its clunk in neutral too. If it were the driveshaft, wouldn't it make noise under a load? It also feels loose going in and out of driveways, etc.?

Clunking is not a bearing problem. Take the wheel off and see if the bearing is lose. It is more likely another suspension problem.
