Wheel fitment issue---99 Cobra front wheels on 91 Fox

I have a 91 LX 5.0 with Weld Draglites in front that I routinely drive to the local dragstrip. My problem is that I recently bought a set of 1999 Cobra wheels to put on it for street duty, and the center of the front hub will not fit under the caps of the wheels, they pop out. I obviously have done a 5 lug conversion of sorts (Ranger rotors on front, if I remember correctly). the back wheels-no problem. I guess I need to replace the spindles and hubs with something a little newer. Which ones? Any other help would be great.

You will need to do an SN95 spindle and brake conversion up front to run those wheels

i was looking on ebay and came across this. what do you think?

This auction is for a PAIR OF LEFT HAND AND RIGHT HAND SPINDLE AND HUB from a 99-04 Ford Mustang.

This is a direct replacement for 1996 - 2004 Mustangs.

This is also the basic building block for a 1979 - 1993 5 Lug front brake conversion!

This includes, spindle, hub, splash sheild and ABS sensor.

Dispite popular belief, this is actually the best spindle and hub to use on 79-93 cars when doing a 5 lug conversion.

The 94 - 95 has poorly designed steering arm, that causes misalighnment of the rack, and terrible bumpsteer.

i'm also using 15" weld draglites. i'd hate to get new wheels to fit over the rotors if the SN-95s are larger...

Guess you could "ghetto rig" it and flatten the bearing dust caps with a hammer, if that would allow enough clerance?

Summary: Go with 94/95 spindles. RUN away from anyone that says otherwise.

Consider this definition of mine:
MORON: A MORON sells stuff on ebay and is TOO STUPID AND MORONIC TO DO EVEN A SPELL CHECK!

In other words, that ebay seller is:
1) A MORON!
2) A LAIR!

Plus, that ***hole ebay seller is even throwing BS in the FACE of the people reading his ad and saying "You are stupid and I knopw more than you!", by mentioning bumpsteer and the 94/95 spindles. Yea, try to correct bumpsteer with 96+ spindles on a Fox!

It's specifically because of flaming *****holes like that ebay seller that *I* take time to respond to tech questions.
When I was a teenager (and mammoths roamed the earth ), I was screwed by some ****** in a speedshop that cared more about his profit than selling proper stuff.

There are people that "know" incorrect information. Everyone has to learn. That's understandable.
However, there are the slimeball scum, like that ebay seller, that screw people knowing fully well what they are doing, and they do not give a rat's *ss about anyone else!

And, if the ***hole moron ebay seller reads this, you are a mega ***hole, and you are a clueless moron! IMHO, ebay should ban ***holes like you for posting MISINFORMATION and BLATANT LIES! Also, your English skills are below that of a typical 3rd grader.

In addition to the spindles, you'll need rotors, calipers, brake lines, spindle spacer.

I'd recommend the 99-04 GT PBR's over a set from a 94-98....if you don't go 13"

How exactly is flattening the dusk cap, ghetto?
Flat or not the dust cap still does the job properly and nobody sees it.

To the OP, if you can get enough clearance for the center cap by flattening the dust cap, you should do so.

Now if you switch to 94/95 spinles, there is a good chance your drag lites are going to have their own clearance issues.
You may need some kind of spacer to run them.

You could try to modify the dust cap and run a spacer. I'm not a fan of spacers, but it would be cheap and easy. Just make sure you upgrade the lugs on the rotors when you do so.

DO not modify the rotor hub by grinding. I know some people suggest this...but that hub area is what keeps the wheel on the car, and getting it hot by grinding can make it brittle

I took the dust cap off altogether, and there still was about 1/2" roughly that i had to deal with. I'm really considering the spacer option...easy fix to solve all the problems, as much as I don't like spacers....OH!!! to the guy that helped ealrier, I received a response from the guy on ebay....get this...

Wonder why Ford redesigned them in 1096 and never used the old arm in the m2300k 13 inch all wheel disc conversion again?

I know the engineer that personally redesigned these. He doesnt work for Ford anymore, he owns his own company.

WOW that guys is terribly misinformed. That is almost as bad as saying "Wonder why ford redesigned the mustang in 1994 from the Fox......

With that being said I recommend against using spacers. I know people say the run them without issues but I have also personally seen what happends when spacers are not hub centric and when the studs arent replaced with longer stronger ones. It isnt fun to see one of your wheels going by you on the freeway. I do recommend the 94-95 spindles. I currently have a setup that I am waiting to install with the 01 pbr's. I have run it in the past and it is a great setup and alternative to the cobra brakes. Especially if you are trying to save a few bucks. You can usually find them fairly cheap as well.

no issues with 15" draglites wheels? I would love to add those, but want to avoid new wheels for the strip...i suppose I could go with 17" draglites in front to clear...
