I'd like to see a pic of the bars installed. If you bars hang too low, when the axle wraps, the bars won't hit anything. If they don't hit anything, they can't prevent leaf wrap, or wheel hop.
Pinion angle is something to look at. But does it vibrate on accel or deccel ?

I would put a set of CalTracs traction bars on and Rancho RS99204 shocks to cure your problem.

I was going to get caltracs but I had these so I decided why not.

I'm going to try and make my own clamps because I have the steel and bolts. I'll let you know how it goes!

Questions:
Do the clamps allow any slip at all between the leaves?
So do you run this way on the street too?
Or do you only have the clamps on for the track?

How are your motor mounts doing? A set of new PU mounts cured my hop - had really worn OE mounts.

I run the clamps all the time street and track. Not sure when you mean by "slip". The clamps keep the each individual leaf from seperating under hard acceleration which can lead to axle wrap/wheelhop. The back half of the leaves do seperate as I don't have clamps there.

The individual leaves slip on eachother allowing the shape of the arc to change and act as a spring.

I was wondering if the front portion was still doing this with the clamps in place, or if it is now acting more like a solid link (like a ladder bar)?

All the mounts are new from what I remember. I'm going to finish the clamps tomorrow and see what happens.

Seems like a good thread.

Got the clamps on and the wheel hop went bye bye, now when I hit second I go sideways. Wooo.

Yup, now I'm the never ending quest to fit big tires. Rear end narrowing is on the way, any other ideas? Would it be possible to squeeze a 13" wide tire in somehow?

And I was thinking today, lets say I got a fuel cell right, I could remove the rear deck temporarily, mini tub the wells, and weld it back on? How much frame work would be involved?

Thanks for all your help guys, I have to much thinking I just need to drive. ahh.

Mini tub is only part of the solution to wider tires. You will also need to relocate the leaf springs closer to the pumpkin.

This is a huge undertaking and in my opinion not worth all the work just to gain a little tire clearance.

Adding tub gains tire clearance.
Just that moving the springs makes even more.
It is a hassle. Just depends on how bad you want even more tire clearance.

So say I just add tubs, to the framerail. And shorten the rear a bit, should I be able to squeeze in 11" wide tires under there?
