Ok i'm not planning on buying wheels for another month or so when my savings account adds up....but just for reference when i'm looking at wheels to buy...

1)18 x 7 or 18 x 8?
2)Bolt pattern is 5 lugs x 144.3 mm correct?
3)Wheelmax.com has some wheel packages that are real nice for $800-$1200....anyone ordered from there or heard about them? Better off buying rims alone then spending a lot more buying tires?
4) anyone with 18's on their v6.....how does the ride quality change?

I really like either of those.... Top one is $990 for 18 x 7 (or 8)....and bottom one is $200 more and they are 18 x 17.5......opinions on either??

1) 18x7 should be wide enough
2) 5 lugs x (I don't know)
3) Never heard of them. Myself, I always buy tires from a local place, because if there are any problems I can go straight to them.
4) 18's do look nice, especially if you drop the car, but they do not improve ride quality. They do decrease it, the ride is harsher. I believe that 17's should be enough for you, since I doubt that Pitsburgh has the best roads in the country. But, it is up to you.
BTW I like the bottom ones better.

don't get 18s...much less those 18s. Ride quality goes to crap. tires are really expensive. For 1200 you could get a nice set of 17s with tires...

I wouldnt go anything smaller than 8" width. Standard GT wheels are 17x8, certain wheels (Cobra R for example) are 9" wide. One thing I always thought seperated Mustangs from more practical cars like the Grand Am was wide rims on the GT. Gives it a beefy look from the back.

I just put 2000 Cobra R's on my V6 just this week. They are 18x9.5 with Khumo Ecsta 712's. The tires i got are only 140 a piece, not cheap, but I thought they would be more; it's a low pro tire but I will only be using them in summer (switiching back to stock rims before snow flies here in Minnesota). I really like the look of 18's. My ride quality is not much different at all compared to the stock 15x7's and I've got about 250 miles worth of driving on all different kinds of roads. Get a pretty decent tire i would recomend though. The only concern i have about my new rims are that they weigh so much more, but it's a hit I'll take to get the better looks.

What are decent tires? Like whats the difference between 205/30/18 and 235/40/18?
I understand that is treadlength, but are 235's a larger profile than 205's?

18" wheels are overkill and will slow you down.

The measurements are: width (in millimeters)/percent of sidewall compared to overall tire diameter/rim diameter. So a tire that is 205/30/18 has a width of 205mm, on 18in rims, and the profile of the sidewall of the tire showing is 30 percent of the diameter of the tire.

The lower the middle number, the lower the profile. The higher the first number, the wider the tires.

Stock 99 tires I believe are 225/55/16.

When i said decent tires, i meant not the cheapest you can find. What size tire you get it totally your opinion, do you want a low pro tire that will have a shorter tread life, or a larger profile but will last longer. I would say jsut dont go cheap when looking for the right tires, it's easy to do because you coul dpossibly save alot of money. I went for a tire that was somewhat cheap (stil 140 per tire) but has a good background. Great wet and dry traction were two really big concerns of mine, and the Khumo Ecsta 712 has been proven to be a good tire. Check out what others think of the tires from websites like tires.com or tirerack.com, they have many reviews on various tires.

get yourself a set of the Kumho ECSTA or SUPRA series. They kick ass! AND They're cheap!

My ECSTA 711's lasted a good 35k miles (on my old stang and i ran auto-x with it), and ran $55/tire, $45 for shipping 2 day fed ex.

Of course, those were 16". I think that you need go with the Supra 712's for 17" or above.

ps top rims, leave the spider webs for the integras

I got my rims from wheelmax, they were a good company to deal with. I would go with the wider, but they don't have anything in a 17" rim that is wider then 7.5. So thats what i got, 18's i think would look alright, but tires for them were outrageous. These are the rims i got, Sport Max 925. They said the offset was totally off, but i didn't believe them . I got them, and they fit like a glove.

And my car with them.
