when i check my timing with the spout out and its at 12, what should it be with it in

Don't worry about the timing with the spout in, let the computer worry about it, that's its job.

if its idling it wont do anything, the spout only advances the timing as the rpm increases.

The computer can advance the timing with the spout in order to help with cold start, idling issues, and a lot of other things. Just set it with the spout out and you're good to go.

that's right...i've seen somewhere between 20-30 degrees btdc at idle with the plug in.

:Word: I've noticed quite a difference on a warm idling engine.

Always pull the spout to set timing.

I notice that the timing will bounce all over when the spout goes back in - the computer takes over that chore with it in but the base timing you set with it out the computer only adds to it
