Where can I find a long block?

Does anyone know where I can find a long block online for a 96GT? The mechanic wants to sell us the short block for 2500. I think that's a little waayy too much.

Would you guys reccomend it? Would it be too much of a hassle to put an 01 engine? Is it worth it? Or just get the same block?
