I have a loud leak that sounds like exhuast but its coming from under the elbow on the upper. I sprayed with carb cleaner to see where exactly but couldnt get it to work, so I am assuming its either the upper-to-lower gasket, or the elbow or TB gasket. I checked and at idle I am only getting like 4psi of vaccum so I figure this is where my idle, throttle delay, brake booster, issues come from. so now my question.....I have a trickflow street intake where can I get the upper to lower gasket? also do you guys use rtv and the gasket or just the gasket? I used both before.
My mechnic friend looked at it to help me find this and we both noticed my car smells of gas reallyl bad through the exhaust and he said that the vaccum issue is messing with the FPR causing it to run rich....sound right?
Thanks Guys.....

I wouldnt use any RTV on thoes gaskets. The upper to lower gasket you'll either have to call a local speed shop and see if they have one, or order it online. The elbow gasket you can just go to discount, autozone, pepboys and buy a roll of gasket material, set it over the elbow, and take a hammer and gently tap around the edges and it'll cut the gasket out and it'll be perfect (thats what I did for my car)

I put a new tube in like 4k miles ago and I took it off and retightend it to make sure that wasnt what was leaking. Plus that doesnt explain the Vac pressure problems.......but it does sound like that though and I thought the same thing as you.

On the TB..I did as 1105 mentioned for couple times over...its cheap and easy.
I finally got around to ordering the TB gaskets from FRPP....they have both the SN and Fox gaskets in the catalog....for 6.00 you get 5 gaskets....

When you have your upper off, just take a look at the gasket... I've had mine off and on many times and its still in good condition. Dont go to discount or any of thoes places to get a TB gasket... they'll give you the wrong one. The gasket material will be your best bet... I think its like $5 and easy to do. You wont be waiting on the gasket to be shipped either.

oo so I can use the gasket mat. for the upper to lower too? Autozone sell that stuff? I would look at it to see if I even need to replace it but its RTV'd so it is useless.......there is def a leak somewhere I just need to find it .... when I first get on the car (like in the morning) Someimtes I get a slight backfire sound that sounded like it was coming from the header to H pipe area on the pass side but I guess mabye it was in the intake and it blew out a gasket...dont know why the carb cleaner couldnt find it tho. Next time I wont use RTV.

I think its the same material as the upper to lower is... maybe just a hair thinner. Hell... its worth a try. Just dont let any little pieces fall in your engine ;) not a good thing

Have you tryed re-TQing the intake?? lower than the upper...They can back off qiute abit from the intial tq...I have checked mine everytime after i remove it...when it comes up to temp and cools down....you can usually find some that are out...18-24 ftlbs isn't alot, ya know...
