How about the pocket behind the passenger seat? With a clip holster, so it won't slip to the bottom.

Would a relatively small semi-auto fit into the storage pouch on the back of the passenger seat? It would be easy to reach there from the driver's seat.

EDIT: Vorhees posted a similar suggestion just ahead of me....great minds think alike

Attach a holster to the right of your leg in the footwell- with velcro or something pretty adhesive- and just keep the gun in that holster. if youre a righty, this makes for nice convenient draws, while keeping it hidden with your leg and the center console near the shifter.

Once in awhile I keep my Ruger P345 ( 45ACP) between the seat and console.

XD fans, nice. I have the XD 9mm in stainless. I love it. But i want to get a Glock also, one that i can carry with my CHL. The XD is a little big for that.

Propeller- I would say for ease of access, rig up some kind of cut out/compartment in the plastic by your knees. It would be some work, but if you can handle a project like that, it would turn out nice.

Do you happen to have a pic of your XD 9mm stainless? That is the next handgun I have been thinking about buying or getting for X-mas. That stainless is sick!

I have a Glock 26 (9mm sub-compact) and a Glock 17 (also 9mm). I like the 9mm Glocks because you can shoot all day and your hand doesn't hurt. Something cool about the G26 is that my buddy has a G27 (.40cal subcompact) and occasionally we switch slides and clips so I can shoot .40's out of my 26. I also have Trijicon sights as well as the Lasermax system on my 26, very cool and works awesome!

Thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping to hear from someone who was handy and actually made some sort of storage pocket not obvious to a casual person but keep the suggestions coming.

As stated in the first post, I do have a concealed handgun license but there are places even CHL holders cannot 'carry'. I'd hate to leave my gun in the obvious places like the glove box or center console and then come back to find my car burglarized. I'm not too worried about people stealing my groceries but I don't want *my* gun in the hands of some criminal bastard.

PS. I have two XDs. The XD9 and XD45 both in the 4" Service models. I also have a Taurus PT-145 for concealed carry. That's 10 rounds of .45ACP in a small tight subcompact size. Hoooah!

Im sure it does but if he were to need it real quick and he was driving or the car was running it would be a pain.

I'm more concerned about hiding it from a regular vehicle search than having quick access to it.

I would think you could rig up a holster under the dash. Lots of room under there.

Take a picture of your gun, put it wherever you want while you drive around, when you park somewhere that you can't carry, put it in the glovebox and lock it. Take the clip out and lock the slide back. Drill a hole in the side plastic of your glovebox and run a trigger lock through the plastic and through the trigger of the gun. It ain't gonna stop someone from taking it but makes it a hell of a lot harder and more noticible. Park in well lit areas and who cares if it gets stolen? You have pictures, a recipt (I assume), police report from the brake in...

I mean, unless you want to cut some carpet, saw out an area for a 'hidden stash box', weld it to something ... or put a 300 pound safe in your trunk ...
