Where can I hide a small gun in my 04 GT?

Take for example Fun Ford Weekend. I didn't bring my pistol that day but if I drove a little over an hour only to find out they posted a "No weapons" sign that includes the parking lot, and there's no other place to park nearby, then I'm screwed. It would be nice to lock it up and hide it at the same time. So, the usual storage places like glove box, seat pockets, etc. aren't practical.

In a situation like that I would lock it in the trunk.

Example #2: My spousal unit works on a military installation. If I drive her to work and I get tagged with a random vehicle search, I'm screwed. Bringing a firearm onto federal property is a big one. I've been through a few of those searches. They just look in all "standard" compartments and sometimes have the drug dogs out there. A hidden compartment would save me.

I thought about doing away with one door speaker or something like that. But that would suck. So I'm still trying to get the creative juices flowing and figure something out.

No, but I don't want to have to drop her off at the gate because I forgot that I have my gun with me and don't want to chance it.

Same basic idea. 1) Hide it from theft 2) Hide it from random searches, not that I WANT to take a firearm on base but it would suck to have to drive all the way home just to come all the way back because I need to make an unplanned stop on base.

what if it goes off and someone in the back seat gets shot in the ass

well, just a theory, not sure if it would work... but a buddy of mine hid some "stuff" in his door panel of his 2000 mustang gt... he would pull the door handle hard a certain way, and it would like "pop out" of the door panel, that would open the hole into the spot between the inner door panel, and the outside of the car... maybe find out how to do that, and make some sort of attached holster in there? dunnno, only idea i could come up with

So very true. You should see the guy that won the democrat primary for Governor in Massachusetts tonight. this guy wants illegal immigrants to move here, he wants to give them in state tuition ohh and he also wants to give them drivers licenses.. YAY!!! thats something to look forward too.

Propeller- I would say for ease of access, rig up some kind of cut out/compartment in the plastic by your knees. It would be some work, but if you can handle a project like that, it would turn out nice.

If you're going on federal property, or anywhere else firearms are expressly prohibited, it's simply your responsibility to not be carrying at those times. Fortunately the Texas Legislature stepped in recently and put a stop to the many local prohibitions on carrying that those jurisdictions had tacked onto the state regulations. Now that there is only one set of laws, compliance is much easier for CHL holders.

when i was stationed in texas i had a concealed carry permit.. i put a holster right under the dash under the steering wheel and its right there all u have to do is reach under and pull her out.. i assume u wont keep ur handgun in the car when ur at hoem or moving around.. and i had a s@w mod 410 40 cal .. and it fit fine so ur pocket pistol would be easier to store there still have one in my 00 gt in ny ..noone notices it either when they ride in my car.

You could have a drivers side kick-panel made to have a little hatch that pops open and you can store it there. You could even have it work off your alarm remote (after market alarm).

I had my consealed permit when I lived in FL, but it is illeagal to create / build / make / install a hidden compartment in any car in Florida. So you may want to check other laws about installing hidden compartments.

True. I can just slip the gun into my pocket and if I get tagged for a random vehicle inspection upon entry, they can search the car all they want. No big deal. They never search the people anyway. But slipping the gun into my pocket won't always work. Neither does planning way ahead to avoid any unplanned stops at the base. If I have to stop at the base during normal business hours, I can drive by the gun range, rent their lockers for an hour, go to the base, do my thing, then stop by the gun range on the way out. But, do I really want to do all that every time? What if the gun range is closed? The second benefit is that if someone breaks into my car, I won't be arming a criminal. This is really the bigger reason for all this.

If I could do away with the airbag, I'd rip all the guts out and use Velcro to hold the cover onto the steering wheel. The only chance of getting the gun stolen out of the car is if I was unlucky enough to be picked by an airbag thief. So far, the back seat seems like the best idea. I can probably remove the latches and use a long strip of Velcro to hold the seat down. I could line the entire perimeter of the back seat so it appears firmly and "permanently" fixed. No hint of a trap door.

I just put mine in the door pocket...

I keep my gun in a holster. When I get in my car, I clip it off my belt and into the door pocket....

I love Texas and the handgun permit... I carry a P89DC 9mm.
