Where did the name "Fox" come from

ehhhh...the grand marquis is actually on the Panter Platform, which is body-on-frame construction and not related to the Fox unibody chassis

just thought i would point that out to avoid confusion

If I remember right there was just a Marquis which was smaller, think it was like a Mercury version of the LTD.

Well technically the name came from Audi's Fox/Vw dasher which was a B1 blatform...these cars were released in 1975 i belive along with the rabbit and scirocco (A1 chassis) as the first watercooled Volkswagens....but the VW Fox itself did not come along until 1987...this chassis was the BX chassis and was completley based off the B1 dasher.
