Several days ago I replaced my struts and upper bushings. Struts were sitting in back for months until I finally ordered the bushings from LRS. I ordered Prothane urethane upper strut bushing kit. It came with 4 bushings and 2 spacers.

The question... First, I didnt use all the bushings. Halfway in the middle with everything all apart, I could not for the life of me figure out where the other two hockey puck looking bushings went. Needing a rapid answer ( so I could get finished that night) I posted in the 4.6 forums. No luck in there.. so I put everything together and used the 2 clamshell urethane bushings and the factory bumpstops. I left the other two...shrug. Car drives much tighter..but. where the heck do those friggin bushings go?

Here is a link to the thread I made. My 3rd post contains a pic I took.

Any ideas?

Looks like the bushing to prevent the strut from bottoming out. Slides over the shiny part of the strut and the dust boot fits over that...I believe the factory struts have these on them too. It doesn't have a stationary position on the shaft that comes out the strut.

ADD... If the dust boot wont go on with the hockey pouck in place i wouldnt worry about it.

Thank you, that's what I thought but I just wanted to be 100% sure. I didn't use them for exactly that reason. The dust boots not fitting. That, and the lower half shell piece of rubber coated metal. You know, the piece that the dust boot lip snaps on to to hold it in place. That bushing wouldn't fit in there, but I guess that would only be a problem if it bottomed out. Anyway, I got two spare urethane bumpstops if anyone wants them.. $5 bucks and you can have'em.. :p Thanks for the quick reply.
