Where is "PI" cast into the cyclinder head?

I have a '98 GT and it feels extremely strong. Let me say that again....it feels EXTREMELY strong. I have a 1990 5.0 GT that runs 13.7's and the '98 feels like it would be able to keep up.

I also believe this car is a VERY late build car for the 98 model year. As unlikely as it is, and I highly doubt it, I am begining to wonder if it has PI heads on it already. The car has never been apart and as far as I can tell, the engine has never been removed and replaced. According to the seller it's only problem was the idler pulley. It was replaced under warrenty. EDIT: the car is so stock it hurts. K&N and no mufflers (why did he do that???) are THE ONLY mods. And it has no tell-tale signs of abuse.

So I want to eliminate my questions and prove to myself it doesn't have PI heads on it already. So where is that little "PI" cast on the heads?

I have no idea...but you could just go to the track and if you run a high 13 then you know something is done. I dont think an untouched non pi 4.6 has ever gotten into the 13s

None that I'v eever heard of. That's what makes me wonder. It just feels too strong. It has been a long cold winter though, so it could just feel real fast because I've been driving a Supercab F150 all winter.

Found it. See pic it's circled.

Visable with the engine in the car and the hood up? If so...yes please :D to the link!

you also might be able to tell just by looking at the intake. does it have an aluminum crossover on the intake manifold?

Weren't the early GT engine intakes all plastic too. I thought the aluminum crossover was a 2002 up thing to fix some issues with cracking?

I have a non-PI intake and I have the aluminum crossover.

I think one tell-tale sign is the oil dipstick. If it's on the passenger side than it is PI heads. If it is on the driver's side it may or may not be PI heads. (Correct me if I'm wrong...)

BTW... I have a late build '98 and some days it feels like a real beast. And some days it doesn't. When I first got it I thought it was a freak.

just look at the bottom of the intake. if it has really long runners and they almost touch the valley then it is pi but if you can almost stick your hand up under it then it is non PI. the aluminum crossover came in 02. you can buy the intake with the aluminum crossover because they had so many issues with cracking.

That's correct. I should add that I bought my non-PI intake w/aluminum runner because my original one cracked. It did not come with my car.

In case anyone cares, I checked the car last night and it has the N-PI intake. Friday night we'll see what she runs.

What should I expect? It's painfully, stock with just a K&N and the mufflers replaced with "S" pipes (ie...no mufflers).

they usually run about 14.6-14.9 stock.
