Correct me if I am wrong but was their a recall on this? My dad received a recall notice a year or two ago and never had it done.

Now the car is eventually trying to overheat because the fan is not working half the time. Sometimes it works perfect other times it shuts off causing overheating.

I though I would try the relay first since I believe that was the recall. Plus its cheap.

If only it were that easy, but the fan relay is part of the CCRM, so it's actually quite expensive to replace. The recall for the fan is a circuit breaker they install to prevent a fire in the event that the bearings go bad in the fan.

Well I just got the fan running. Only thing wrong was one of the prongs on the connector was kinda corroded. I cleaned it off and the fan started working again.

I was beginning to question the stock guage because I had the car idling for close to 30min without the fan running and it did not want to heat up. I finally got to the m in normal before I shut it off and cleaned that.

Now it stays right in the middle with or without the AC on. Least it was an easy fix...this time.

Keep an eye on that fan terminal (was it the bottom end one?). That was likely not corrosion but the connector starting to 'char'.

As Matt noted, the fans seize, so a breaker was installed as a band-aid.

I still wanna know what that 60 amp fuse does. Anyone who had a fan meltdown ever blow the fuse?
