Where should I gap my plugs??

Well I was having issues a while back with spark. Out of nowhere it felt like my car ran like **** and got bad gas mileage and horrible performance. Well I decided to buy new spark plugs (Autolite platinum). I have copper plugs in atm. When i was taking off the spark plug wires I noticed the boots on 2 wires were totally screwed. So I ordered ford racing wires and replaced the wires and need to get some heat protectors to protect them from the headers. After changing the wires and not the plugs I noticed a huge difference(probably was running on 6 cylinders), but it still doesn't pull to 5200rpm like it used to. It seems to struggle over 4k.

3.73 gears
70mm BBK TB
CAI w/ k&n
Full Mac exhaust
MSD coil w/ ford racing wires

Where should I gap the plugs??? I believe stock gap is .054, but I am not positive. What gap should I try??

Take those platnium plugs back and just get the stock ones. They will work just fine. I would gap them to 45 and see how it runs. Is the motor a rebuild or still the original?

use Autolite Ignition Spark Plugs: Copper Core part #25 our cars run better on the copper plugs and gap them at .044 for 89-90 models and .054 for 91-95 models...you prolly fouled the plugs you have in at the moment with the bad sparkplug wires not allowing the plugs to fire properly which causes the plugs to get gas soaked...

The motor has 110k miles on it. I'm pretty sure the plugs are bad because of the 2 wires that were in bad shape. Yeah I'll take these back and get stock ones. I just read about the platinums being horrible and having spark jumping issues.

Yeah i figured those 2 plugs are fouled. So .054 should be good with the little boltons i have?

You have about the same engine mods I do and I gapped mine at 54. Works great for me.

Good advice above - Bill302 is right about the Autolite 25's. I've had great luck with them (before the supercharger which made me step down to a 24).

If you think 0.054 is giving you problem, step it down to 0.045 and see if it makes a difference.

I'm running the MSD coil on my car, Taylor wires and 1 (one haha) FRPP wire. The res of the ignition is stock. One of my Taylor wires broke off in my hand and I haven't contacted them for a replacement yet. The FRPP is doing just fine in there, I swapped them out only because they were cut a a little too long for my taste.

I run the Taylor wires on both of my cars. I was running the FRPP wires on the Cobra but the boots kept burning through near the headers. Since I was running the Taylors on my Chevelle with success I thought I would give them a try on the Cobra and I haven't had a problem with them since and it's been almost 2 years.

ive run the autolite platinums and never had a problem at all. i have an msd 6a accel spiral core wires and im not sure what i gapped them at.

Where should I gap my plugs??
