Installing my Paxton Novi 1000 and the installation manual says to use a 3/8" x 18 NPT tap (not provided with parts).

Where do I buy this?

Advance Auto had a kit with a 3/8-16 in it and Lowe's has kits and individual parts with 3/8-16 in them.

Can't install the oil line without this part!

Thanks.

I had to go to my local hardware store to get one. I believe it was sears. Do you already have a punch for the pan? That was a b*tch for me to find. BTW it has to be a NPT - you'll notice that the tap actually gets bigger the further it goes in. This is unlike a normal tap where the diameter is consistent through out the thread.

The punch comes with the install kit. I wish they would've included the tap too!

If you have an Ace Hardware that is local, try there or sears... If non of those work you can go online to www.mcmaster.com to find it. I know they have it for sure.

I hear you. I cringe every time I read a post which makes me think of running a tap in to an oil pan.

actually not as bad as i thought it would be... hardest part was getting your hands up in there and swinging a hammer. i used an assortment of punches varying in tip width and watching not to go into the pan too far.... the tap was hard to find around here, think i had a hardware store order it

It's easy to tap the pan. Just put a lot of grease in the flutes and take your time.

I got mine at Ace hardware. Couldn't find it at Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, or any of the parts stores. Tapping the pan wasn't all that bad. Just take your time and use plenty of grease on the tap. Pull it out and clean it off frequently as you go. Mine was a bit more of a PITA because I have a 7qt Moroso pan, and it's a good bit thicker than a stock pan.
