Where to bolt engine lift chain on shortblock?

Well im yanking my shortblock tomorrow afternoon. Where is a good spot to bolt the engine lift chain? Ive never pulled an engine without heads on it.. Any good spots?

Haha, I'm in the same boat. All I got is the block. I haven't pulled the lift out yet and don't feel like trying to line it up.

Me and my Dad always used to use two head bolts on opposite sides of each bank with a chain in between each bolt. Some of the bolts looked like pretzels when we were done but it got the job done.

Get two grade 8 bolts and put them on diagonally opposite sides of the block. There are plenty of places you can put a bolt in fairly deep on the block. Then just put the chain around those bolts.

thanks for the replies. That was my thought - using two arp head bolts in the block.
