Where do I buy the tool for the rear calipers, to compress them?

Chris, any parts store should sell the tool (you are talking about the little cube, right?). I have never used one - I use on-hand tools to spin the rod in.

I've rented them from autozone for free (refundable deposit). If you want to keep the tool then they keep the deposit which is like $40.

the tool is $90 from my autozone, which i don't really want to spend. the one they have is an adjustable one (has different sizes) so it's more

no parts store around me has this thing, so i wonder if i can just get it at the ford dealer or something... i've never been to the dealer

i don't know what ur referring to.. a little cube ? i dunno

you're not supposed to vs. can't spin the rod in with the gt/cobra (should be the same) rear calipers because there's two little notches that must be held. so the tool i'm talking about is a threaded shaft that when you spin, compresses the piston. the piston side is a circular flat piece with two nipples

Napa should have an attachment peice that connect to a ratchet(sp?) like a socket would. A buddy of mine picked it up at Napa.

I know sears has the tool to compress the rear piston in. You have to "screw" the rear one in, you cant just push it in like the fronts.

It looks like a little cube with different notches on it. The one I got from napa still didnt fit the rear calipers - so i took a dremel and ground 2 of the big notches down so it would fit properly.

Don't get the "cube" tool. That one sucks. I rented the rear caliper kit from Autozone for $38 that was refundable when I returned it. The kit has bunch of different attachments, so you'll find one that fits just fine.

if anyone has a pic of the one Chris is talking about, lemme know. The cube is what friends use, but like I said, I do it all shadetree.
I am interested in knowing what a good tool is for if I ever cant get it done with my methods......

I second the cube deal, its too universal to be specific, if you know what i mean. I used the one from autozone,rented it for 35 dollars. It came in a little orange box, I'll do some research and post it up.

Its not bad, overall it was pretty good. The piston is a LOT harder to compress than I first thought. You really have to put a little powa to it !

ok, that's the one I rented. that's cool that you found the link, thanks man... i just thought there might be a slightly cheaper mustang specific one... but that's a reasonable price i think
