I'm looking to do a mild build, something around 300 hp so nothing special, and was wondering where the best place to get a stock shortblock would be.

I thought about rebuilding the old bottom end, but im thinking it would just be easier to buy an assemled short block and go from there.

well whats your budget? summit sells short blocks and long blocks

The only shortblocks summit sells are the motorsport 347's, 351's, and 460's as shortblocks, and i've heard that the motorsport crate motorts arent that great, plus i want to use my own choice of H/C/I.

As far as budget is concerned the motor is going to be fairly mild so i really dont want to spend any more than like 2 grand on the complete shortblock. The motorsport 347 summit has is around 3 grand so i cant see paying more than 2 grand for a 302.

had a motor from DSS . DSS pro bullitt. you pay to much for the name you can rebuild your motor for a lot less. All the DSS stuff is rebuilt. Have it done local if you have any problem you can drive over and have the shop fix it not send it back to DSS.....

got mine from Keith Craft and have nothing but good things to say bout them

Yep, same here...

Mine cost close to 2,000rpm with the pistons and Keith doing every little thing he could to do a complete rebuild...money well spent for longevity and quality.
