My speedo needle is bouncey from 0-20 mph. I just replaced the cable and VSS sensor and installed a used 160 mph cluster. My old cluster was trash. The new speedo cable came with lube and I searched everywhere but couldn't find out exactly where to use the lube at.......and help?

Lube the bottom half of the cable with the graphite lube that came with the cable. Use too much or lube the top part of the cable and the lube can work its way up into the speedo head and ruin it.

I think I ****ed up and lubed the top and bottom of my cable cause I didnt know any better. Will it really trash the speedo unit? How long does it take to destroy it? I know I have the wrong speedo gear for my 4.10, but after driving the car for about 400 miles, no my speedo needle bounces around like the gear is chipped or cracked. Is this the sign my speedo is trashed? And if so what gets ruined on it? I have another cluster for a 4 cyl auto for 85 mph, can I transfer parts from this to my GT 140 mph unit to fix whatever I ****ed up?
