Where to wire my electric choke

I have a 1990 Mustang GT with a carbed 347. I just got a new holley 4 BBr 600cfm with electric choke before a have a manuel choke. I figured I'd asked the classic guys/gals being that you all will probably be the most experienced in this area. All my prior mustangs/car have been fuelies. Where is a good place to wire my electric choke?

I have mine running off the ignition coil. Clean and easy. I have seen people say don't do that but I haven't had any problems with either my ignition or the choke in the 10 years that I've had it like that.

You should be able to hook it to any 12v that is connected to the ignition switch. I've heard that the ignition switched side of the starter solenoid is a good spot.

You may not think you have a problem, but the reduced voltage you are using is not ideal. If you are in a moderate climate, you may never notice a problem, but if you need more choke, you will have the adjustment rotated beyond the index to compensate. But the real problem, is that it will take longer for the choke to open on reduced voltage, meaning the fast idle wil take longer to drop off the steps. You may not care about this. But just so you know.
THe easiest place to pull switched 12v from is to splice into the green with red strip wire on the voltage regulater. Or run a wire from the back of the ign switch.

You should be able to find the red wire that is switched power from the PCM relay. It feeds a lot of EFI components you probably no longer have since you are running a carb. Just use a test light to verify it has 12V switched power.

I missed that. Sorry. I thougt I read a 347 out of a 90 GT. What Tim posted will be a much better way to do it.

Problem is switched power will cause the choke to heat when the key is one, even if it's not running. Like to put it to a power source that is 12v only when the car is running.

The proper place for the Electric choke to be hooked up is the STATOR terminal of the alternator.

You don't need the electric choke until the engine is running. Because they pull the choke OFF not on....
