Which Cams Would Be Better For P&P NPI Heads?

Comp 270's will work. Which Crower's do you intend to use, PI or NPI version. VT Stg 2 cams will not work without other mods to the NPI heads. I wouldn't use VT cams even if they did fit.

I think this might be the first negative comment I've seen about VT cams. I love my VT stg II's. Love the power and love that idle...
I don't know if they will work with an NPI engine though. The best way to find out is to e-mail VT and ask. If they dont work I think comp 274 NPI cams are close. They have about the same profile.

The Comp 274 NPI cams are very different than the VT stg 2 N/A cams.

VT Stage II, 225/235 at 0.050, 0.560/0.575 lift, 108 LSA

Comp 274, 236/240 at 0.050, 0.500/0.500 lift, 114 LSA

I have seen Comp 262's out perform VT Stg 2 N/A cams with identical mods. VT cams are difficult to get to idle correctly compared to other cams.

I am extremely happy with the Crower's I have in my P&P NPI heads. I am running the Crower PI Stg 2 SC cam in my car. Very similar to the Comp 270 but more lift. You will need to modify the heads to run more than .545 lift which is I am recommending the Comp cams.

I have seen my car compared to a VT 5.0L Big-Bore that is using the VT Stg 2 N/A cam. All I am going to say is that the VT car has a better supporting cast than my car and is making less power than me.

Comp's do not have PTV issues either, improper installation causes PTV and there is cases of improperly installed VT cams having PTV issues. I have posted about a few of them here in the past.
