My mods are in my sig (hopefully). i wanted to see what type of clutch to get for it. i am having the rear main fixed this summer and will have the clutch replaced along with it. i think the king cobra clutch is in there now. i have bought the king cobra clutch in the past and have been very happy with it on my other mustagn without as much power as this one. i drive this car 90% of time on street. when i go to track, i obvliusly beat the crap out of it 5-10 passes. maybe once or twice a year. i just bought an adjustable linkage kit last year and had that installed. anyway, will the king cobra HD clutch for 179 be ok for this car? like i said, i think that is what is in there now, and i dont hink it is slipping or has slipped. i use the nitrous sparingly on the street if at all, but at the track for sure. how much HP can the king cobra hold. i dont even know how much my car has for sure. i have heard about eh centerforce dual friction clutch, but that is over 100 more and doesnt have the throwout bearing and few other things the KC has.

thanks, sorry it is so long.

thanks for reply. i have read the posts about various clutches and what not. i wanted answers specifically to my car. i also couldnt find anything in regards to how much horsepower it could actually handle. i guess i will just get the king colbra that has everything with it. i am guessing i am a little over 300 horsepower and well over it with nitrous.

thanks

i also saw this on ebay.

This one is a good value and includes free shipping.

my experience was that the ford king cobra from summit held more horsepower than the factory t-5 could. just remember, too good of a clutch and you are just begging for a new tranny.

true!

LAST QUESTION B4 I ORDER---------

can anyone tell me if these two clutches are the same please?

THANKS

Yes, the same clutch. Astro Performance has a very good reputation for their knowledge and products. The clutch is not actually made by Ford it is made by Valeo it just comes in a Ford box. I have heard of guys also buying this clutch from Dynamic Racing Products. But I don't know much about them. I have bought from Tony who is the owner of Astro performance in the past. He helped me through the rebuild on my T-5 and was very helpful and I would not hesitate to buy from him again. If you have any questions you can give him a call.

reasonable if the clutch ever shows up. i was supposed to get it on thursday! i called friday and got a busy signal for an hour. then i call on the weekend and get some generic voicemail message. it better come by monday!

Hope it shows up, I ordered one too, supposed to be here Monday I think, talked to Tony and he said he's been flat out...

It will come. I ordered an extended clutch fork from them a few months back. It took a week or so, but I got it. I was getting impatient too. Good luck with the install. That's a great price. When I bought that kit a few years back, it didn't come with the pilot bearing or throwout bearing.

if it's not too late, I wanted to throw in my .02, the king cobra is a fantastic clutch, but it's only rated about 30% above stock power levels, which puts it right around 300 horse. If you're already at 300 horse before the spray, I would shop around for another clutch. It'll work but it won't last years....

as for the kc handling more power than the t5, that's technically true, however the t5 is way underated. A t5 that is shifted good and never powershifted can handle over the rated power limits for a while with no issues.
