Which companies make good flip-out DVD player decks?

Im researching Alpine, Kenwood and Pioneer.. and so far I'm stuck between Alpine and Kenwood.

Alpine for sound quality
Pioneer for duribility
Kenwood for...bad luck? lol

Actually their all great DVD units. With these 3, it's usually personal preference. I wouild go Alpine.

they will all break eventually so just pick the one you think has the cooles features - pic quality---i would say pioneer or alpine...got 2 friends with pioneer--pic quality is amazing....one has the 5.1 setup...

Are they all prone to breaking down that fast?

I find it hard to believe that a $3,000 deck has no better reliability than a $300 deck. I was looking at the Alpine and Kenwood, the top model Alpine has 1.1 million pixels, so it's picture quality is superior to anything Kenwood and Pioneer.

Pioneer is no longer an option because the Kenwood deck outperforms it in anyway, the Kenwood has touch screen, plays so many formats, has a TV Tuner, has a ton more featuers the Alpine and Pioneer decks dont.

Kenwood quality can't be that bad can it? I mean it's not like I'm buying the base model dvd player, I'm buying the best Kenwood has to offer.

i say go with alpine iva-d300(310) because of the pulse touch and the ability to add 5.1 surround sound with the pxa-h701 processor if you want to go with true 5.1. But i would also recommend kenwoods double din(if thats what u want). My friend has one and it just looks so cool in his car.

If you like the features on the Kenwood, go Kenwood. I'm just not a Kenwood fan at all, I'm Pioneer through and through. But the Alpine has the best sound quality no matter the situation or features.

How much different is the sound quality between Alpine and Kenwood? I'm only referring to their Flip-Out DVD decks.

not saying it will break soon---just that anything with that much motorization will break eventually---the life span on those things (from what I've seen) is much shorter than a standard cd player....

The longest lasting one i've seen from the people i've known that had em--was an old Eclipse flip out screen---and that's prob because it had the least amount of motorization.......it didn't flip up----it came out and then you had to swivel it to an angle of your liking...

Okay, three excellent choices.
I find that the three have close picture quality and very similar reliability. The picture is almost impossible to tell the difference unless you have them all in your car to do the comparison. I find that the alpine's colour is the best, but I find that the sharpness of the kenwood to be the best. Reliability goes to the Kenwood as well because unlike the other two, the screen doesn't flip up on two gears. Instead it uses a slide mechanism to raise the screen (much more solidly built). Now I'm not a Kenwood buff, nor much of a fan, but I have to go through this ordeal with many of my customers so I have the main concerns memorized. In the end I sell the cheapest one more often, and it's a Clarion
It's your call so I would suggest......eenie, meenie, minie....moe?
