i am planning on getting the novi 2000 mongoose kit, and i like the idea of having forged internals over stock. my question is: should i buy rods and pistons and have them installed to my existing short block? or should i buy an already assembled short block from VT or D.S.S. or Modularpowerhouse? oh BTW, i have an 02 gt. thanks

Trust me on this, buy the shortblock. I just built my stroker and it seemed there were problems eveywhich way we turned. Just get the shortblock, slap your heads and intake on, and be done. All the companies you listed have great product.

Go with VT. MPH doesn't do motors anymore.
I am just buttoning up my rebuild. It is very easy to do, as long as you take your time. If you need a lot of machining just get an already built one.
By the time you buy all the tools needed it really doesn't save you anything. Well except that you now have a bunch more tools.

If you've never even seen the inside of a modular engine, then go ahead and buy a pre-built unit. I built mine and it turned out fine for the most part. Had one set back, but it was mostly my fault. Not sure how GT04Mustang would consider buying a built engine cheaper. I got mine 600hp capable for about half the price any of the major engine builders were charging.

PM me and I'll send you my price sheet i used and what i put in mine and what the final bill was...
And make sure you talk to a SHOP to knwo your not missing ANYTHING!!!! Make a list of what you''l need for example: New Head studs, main studs, honing, head gaskgets, oil pan gasket, etc man.... there is ALOT.... HUGE PROPS to MMR (Chris for all his help) I'll give ya the number if ya want to talk to him. Great help on my build.
