I have a 4.10 that is pretty much toast and have been considering going with a 3.73. How much is this going to affect my 1/4 mile times. Right now on motor I am at a 13.5 @ 103MPH. I have sprayed the car with a 75 shot and can't spray it until 3rd gear because I cant hook up but I run out of gear in fourth when spraying with about 60 ft of track left. My best on the nitrous is a 13.20 @ 106. I will be running this on motor more than spray. I just want the best gear for both and not really lose any time on running just motor.

i think the 3.73 is a better gear unless you are running a really tall tire. you will more than make up in mid range and top end with spray at the track with the 3.73 and you wont run out of gear as quick thus eliminating a shift. in my opinion the 3.73 is much better.

I am running 245/45/17 drag radials. If I go with a 3.73 am I going to lose anytime running on just motor. Right now I am running thru the traps at around 5700 RPM's in 4th gear on just the motor and my best time is a 13.55 @ 103. Thats with the 4.10

no. it balances out pretty good. it just depends on where you want your speed to come in at. if you want to get it all from a digg and lose it in top end then stick with the 4.10 ut if you want it in more mid range get the 3.73's. and more than likely the 3.73 will be less likely to spin off the line than 4.10 would so you night actually run faster. but i could be wrong about the spinning. its all in how you leave the hole.

Yeah most likely you WILL lose time on motor. You didn't list the combo though so w/o any info no one can really help you.

My combo is as follows: 89 LX 302 Edelbrock 5.0 performer intake,75MM TB,C&L MAF, 24# injectors,MAC air intake, F cam,BBK full length headers 2 1/2 flowmaster exhaust, 4.10's, Lakewood 70/30 front struts Zex 75 shot . 245/45/17 Nitto DR's

Now I know its going to help me a ton with the nitrous. I just need to know if its going to slow me down on motor.

How much are we talking as far as hurting me on motor. Because right now with the 4.10 I am spinning almost all of first gear and a little in 2nd gear just on motor. My best 60ft is a 1.95. Even if I slip the clutch as soon as I get my foot to the floor it starts spinning. On DR's and slicks

Let me rephrase that I am not really spinning on slicks but I a'int getting into it like I should because my rear suspension is all stock. I dont want to break anything by diging hard. I just dont want to go out and buy a 3.73 if its going to kill me on the motor. I can live with a tenth or so but if its going to slow me down to like a 1/2 -1 second slower thats another story.

It will probably be .1-.2 or so and 1-2mph. You'll be crossing the traps too low with the 3.73's on motor. If its a dedicated gas car gear it for that, if not stay 4.10.
