I was thinking of either an ARP head stud kit with Felpro Performance 1152 head gaskets, or the Ford Racing kit with the torque-to-yield head bolts and the graphite gaskets.

I'd use the ARP regular bolts. Studs can make it hard to get the heads off in the car. I am not a fan of torque to yield bolts, if I did not have to use them. No reason that plain old fashion bolts would not work on even a well modded 302. Given your choices, I go with reusable studs.

So what's the deal with the torque to yield bolts and why does Ford think they are so great anyway?

Felpro and ARP bolts or studs!! Torque to yeild will work in an engine that isnt seeing a lot of cylinder pressure and RPM changes.. and they are throw away after used once!!

Just me........................

Thanks, that is what I will get!
