you are forgetting to ask "under what conditions"

3.27-waste of time and money
3.73-Great gearing and doesnt need chip (from what i hear)
4.10-perfect gears for AODE but some people require chipping. Less top speed

dont waste you money on anything lower then a 4:10 gear... i have a 4:30 in my car and i love it ... and it doesnt hurt gas mileage like everyone thinks ... but i would for sure go with the 4:10 i made bad move when i went 3:73 first... then i moved to 4:30 and love it

dont get 3.27, I have them. The original owner was a chick and wanted better passing power but the same mileage in 5 so she had 3.27s put in. They are craptacular. I have a 5spd and plan on getting 4.10s when I eventually do gears.

3.73s is my vote.... need more than that... mod the motor. I've got buddies that are topping out all the time as they go bigger and badder.

I'm VERY happy with my 3.73s... if I could just get the speedo fixed (cheap) I would be totally thrilled.

I went from 2.73s by the way.

I had 4.10's in my previous stang, and like the 3.73's alot better, especially on the highway. Not to mention, if you plan on forced induction, 4.10's may be a little too much gear IMO.

MRGREEN94GT, i was looking at you sig and no chip. did you have any problems. i have an aode VERT, which needs all the help it can get. i spoke to the tech on speedconcepts.net and he said that needing a chip is all B/S, he said that aode owners wouldn't need a chip for the shift points.

Some aode owners have problems with 4.10 and some like the 3.73's but kinda wish they went for a lower gear. With that being said why not try 3.90's they would be the perfect compromise.

I don't have any trouble that I know of. Considering that I have almost never gone to full throttle in the time that I've had the car. I also have a car that came with 3.27 gears stock. From what I hear, they have fewer problems with deep gears.

I do intend to get a Tweecer in the next few months. There are a few issues that I find annoying that I would like to be rid of. Namely, how it won't automatically shift out of OD while decelerating until 16mph. I would prefer it to do that at about 25-28mph.

I have no complaints about the 4:10's in my aode vert. The gears are not even noticable at highway speed. Don't think the previous owner put a chip in, but I have not checked yet.

I had 373's,then got 410's.The 410's feel better,but the 373's are 2 tenths faster in the 1/4 mile.( I have a stock motor )

how are the 373s faster if you are accelerating faster with the 410s? because you have an extra shift maybe?

How could it not?
At 70mph, my rpm went from 2000 to about 2300.

Here is the REAL answer:

If youre not going to do much else...4.10' should be fine. (although I would still not do it)

If you are going to put a power adder, or a good Torque converter...3.73's. You will spin tires like crazy with 4.10's a good converter, and a power adder..

Also, if you drive on the hwy a lot, and you have load exhaust..the higher RPM's with the 4.10s will give you a headache.

Strangely, I've never needed more than about 80-90% throttle to "take care of business". I did, however, manage to get over 5 grand today during a pass. That's a strange occurance with the way I drive.

i have the factory 3.27's still. i bumped into an old highschool friend and found out he also has a mustang with an aode. he just put 3.73's in and he took me for a drive. he's practically stock and it pulls like a mofo. completly different car compared to mine and i got more **** done then him.

my vote is for 3.73's. my friend that took me for a ride said he can get me the same gears for $160 Canadian brand new straight from ford because he works at a dealership.

if you do alot of highway driving get the 3.73 instead of the 4.10's so you can still have the fun from light to light.

Cb18201- to answer your question, you whould achieve a higher MPH with the 3.73's. but it would take you longer to get there as aposed to the 4.10s
