Which is more fun handling or just speed?

What do think is more fun....a Mustang that can handle and brake very well or a Mustang setup to go fast in a straight line? After spending some time on miata forums, the mindset is very different. When they talk cars its about fun and balance. When cars are discused on fbody and mustang forums, it's mostly about speed and how much power you make. Handling with less power can be used far more often than raw power, it is also cheaper and breaks less.

Opinions?

They're both pretty fun. My commute to work is this crazy curvy two lane road. There are a bunch around here. I love taking my civic up and down them. The CRX was the balls. The stang not so much.

It really was fun watching people in faster but not as nimble cars fall slowly behind in the sections where there were no straight aways for them to catch up.

After I get the stang where I want for now I'm going to work on handling.

Yeah, I think cars like the GSR Integra that I drove was fun or an svt focus. They didn't have much power, but they were fun...you could beat the crap out of them and not worry. A fox has more power, but it isn't quite as nimble. With about $1500 in the suspention a fox would probably be MORE fun.

In my eyes I feel its safer to hit it from a light or on a highway roll, than to run through the corners fast not knowing whose around the other side. Granted I have done both in different cars, and cars that stick to the road are fun... but seems there is a lot more that can go wrong in a short period of time. Personally if you build it to do something, and do it well then thats awesome. Im all about going straight, but corners are fun too, and if someone builds a corner carver, more power to them...

Also after this summer my car will look like a corner carver (bigger discs, 18s, lowered, etc...) but will still be a mainly straight line car!

I prefer drag racing. I'm with 25thmustang on the not knowing whats around corners thing, f that. Now if your talking about scca , that i like because it's a controlled environment without the risk of some sucker broke down around a blind curve.

Theres just something about going from 0-60/0-100+ that just gets me going :nice: .

To me eating a porsche or a Z06 through the corner is just as gratifying as the quarter.I feel the term muscle car points towards going straight really fast, the term sportscar refers to those that want to go really fast in and outta the corners. And then theres racecar, hauls ba**s no matter what your doing.:SNSign:

Miata owners have to enjoy "balanced handling" and need to be good at maintaining momentum. The spec Miata Spec series is a blast to watch. I rode in a Spec racecar last year. Fast as hell through the corners and slow as hell in the straights.

I’m into the corner carving. My first HPDE event of 2006 is June 2nd. I can’t wait. I just put ’98 Cobra brakes and Maximum Motorsports coil-overs on the GT.

IMO my bike is for carving, my stang is for raw power and my BMW has a little bit of both. if and when i do get around to the suspension on my stang i am definatley gonna get some good parts.
