From what I can find, all part replacement site recommend a PCV valve that has two 90 degree hose connections, but for the life of me I remember the valve having one vertical connection. The valve that came off my engine has the two 90 degree connections, but the top one was broke and for the life of me I cannot remember if anything went there. Looking at the vacuum diagram, it appears that only one line goes to the valve:

What is the part number for the single hose valve? Why does the suggested replacement have provisions for two hoses?

The original one is the vertical PCV

When you bought a PCV kit in the 90's and early 2000's, it came like the above with the adapter for the 90* section. You just chucked that part because it wasn't needed on the Fox, but Ford used it on other cars

At some point, that double inlet PCV because the default style that shipped when you ordered the motorcraft PCV and other aftermarket versions. Most on the market are of this bent design.

It's the same issue with the Motorcraft ECT. Now, the listed motorcraft sensor for the fox mustang is the same sensor as the 4.6L Mustang with a new adapter harness supplied. The original design is dead

What year car is it?

I've seen that top nipple capped off before.

For my '85, I got a Motorcraft EV140 pcv valve, which has one 90° nipple. On first glance, they no longer appear available. I got mine from RockAuto originally. Found one on fleabay, but it's pricey....

The brand “Standard” PCV valve part V201 comes with the vertical nipple that the fox hose can just push straight down onto. Disregard the “F” style connector that it comes with.

You would also want to replace the screen. Standard brand part BF36 and perhaps the rubber grommet while you’re at it.

It's a 1993. I've already got the screen and the grommet. I'll go with the Standard, thanks for the recommendation.

Been going down a small rabbit hole trying to figure out which would be the correct replacement from Motorcraft. So far I've found the following matches:
  • EV-98-B (Ford P/N D9ZZ-6A666-A, black, seen listed for 86-89))
  • EV-147 (Ford P/N F0ZZ-6A666-A, light gray, NPS lists is as for 90-93)
Looks like the light gray one would be the factory replacement. Could anyone confirm? Are there other part numbers that interchange?

As per Ford Parts Online:

Light gray (F0ZZ) is listed for the 2.3L.

Black (D9ZZ) is proper for your 93’ 5.0 (discontinued)

If you check RockAuto and look at the OEM part numbers that interchange for the 3 options they offer for your 1993, they all list the D9ZZ and not the F0ZZ part number. Same as on other parts source sights.

Anyway, do yourself a favor and don’t go deep down the hole with this part… Just go to your local parts store, get a valve that’s proper for your car (they will look it up), and call it a day.

Anything wrong with putting the "F" valve on? Only asking because i have one sitting in my parts bin waiting to be installed.

Nothing wrong with that. Just cap the one with the smaller inside diameter.
