Which mirrors to choose.....

OK, here's the deal and dilema. Right now I have an aftermarket circa 1970 chrome reproducton look a like of the color keyed mirrors that were first available in 69'. They are still servicable but showing their age. I had contemplated going with the correct color keyed ones but on a vert I have to say I really like the look of the extra chrome, it compliments the window trim nicely. So what are my options really? I can't find anything like my vintage aftermarket ones and I have to decide before I paint the car. I notice alot of the modified cars of various years going with the Shelby bullet design mirrors now a days, how do you think they would look if I want to keep chrome?

i'd prefer the shebly bullets with the big lenses (talbot jr?) to the ones you have now. no offense i just think the chrome version you have is a little big and hokie to me. it works ok with the way the car is now (or was) but i think with the paint you are looking to use and the shelby glass that the smaller mirrors will look better. i have also seen quite a few of the big lens versions with the main body painted the color of the car and the chrome lens head left chrome, that looks awesome.

Well ya know I have checked them before and believe it or not the ones I have are the same dimensions as the color keyed ones. The only real difference is the neck pivots to give more adjutability. No offense though, I know my opinion, it's others that I am looking for. So where to find these big lense bullets? That's the one thing I was concerned about with the regular ones is the mirrors are so small, way smaller than I have anyway and those are small as it is. So if you paint the body does the chrome have to be stripped first? I have to say that sounds like the best of both worlds and may solve the problem nicely.

I have been leaning this was as like I said, I seems this is almost a restomod standard these days but I don't think I've seen a 69' with them yet.

there is a pic of the one i'm talking about in the link below

they also make this mirror in a "long base" version that is closer in length to the mustang mirrors. branda carries them but they don't have a pic on their site, i believe they call it the "MOCK II" the regular talbot jr mirrors are on backorder right now. i think most of the mustang supplers have this mirror, at one time i was planning on using these mirrors myself but decided on the stock sport mirrors, in retrospect i think it would look better the way i suggested you do these mirrors with the body of the mirror painted body color, oh well hindsight is 20/20

So are these talbot Jr. mirrors like the original Rotunda, that seems to be what is in most of my catalogs. I do think the original style is more streamline than the large mirror one but I need to have some function at least, and heck two are about the oprice of one 69' sports mirror. I do like the look of that Falcon you posted on the other forum especially with the charcoal/graphite color I'm leaning towards, that will look real good with the pop of chrome, maybe I'll get to correct your mistake for you, heh heh.
