which mods first?

right now my 2002 gt has 2 cats removed, some flowmasters (dont kno what series) and a K&N filter. i just gont done ordering my MustangTuning off-road X-pipe. i am an ameture at messing with modern cars, i was more into classics before. anyways, i was wondering what order i should do my mods in. i am planning to get some Under Drive pullys, a new throttle body/plenum kit, cold air, flywheel, headers, and a chip. if anyone have any good advise on what products i should get, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks.
 
stay away from the pulleys , I would recommend , gears , good clutch , flywheel should be fine , just have it turned and dont forget a clutch cable and quadrant (firewall adjuster optional ) , TB and plenum , diablo or SCT for tuning it ... I would recommend full length exhaust but since you have already ordered the midpipe , just make sure you replace the factory studs in the manifolds with regular ones from NAPA ....and you will need MIL eliminators if you are going to wait on tuning it .......oh and if its not lowered , LOWER IT , eibach prokit or sportlines .....
 
I like my pullies? Car seems to lag a lot less in 5th now? Any how everything else the others said is pretty good for an aaverage layout.
One thing I did was make a part tree (wish list) and then say to my self, if I get this will it work with that (that being a supercharger when the car is paid off and I can afford another car with good gas mileage) and if it doesnt work with the SC then it comes off my list. (Oh and yes the CDC shaker has an adapter to fit certain brand SCs, just in case any one wanted to say "Well that wont work...")
 
i would get gears, but i heard they are only worth getting if you want to really race it, like at a strip. another reason i dont want gears is because i like going 80mph and only taching 2200. i'm not going to sacrifice major fuel milage for a few extra tenth's of a second. this car is my daily driver, and has to last me at least 1/2 way through college (im im 11th grade right now) i planned on either dropping it 1 1/2 to 2 inches anyways, cuz i've seen them lowered, and yes i agree, they look mean. MIL eliminators are on the way as well. but why stay away from the pullys? tons of people have them, so they cant be that bad right? thanks again everyone
 
I say get a new shifter first and foremost. Then get some 3.73's if you wanna keep it tame on the gas mileage, even though most havent noticed an extreme drop in gas mileage. Stay away from the cold air, as it will do next to nothing for your performance. If you get the underdrive pulleys, keep the stock ones in the event that you ever want to go supercharged. The pulleys dont give much of a gain by themselves, but they love to be coupled with the Steeda timing adjuster. Oh and make sure you get the Steeda pulleys. The gears wont gain any horsepower, but they will make your car feel soooo much faster. These will be my next mod as soon as I figure out which gear to get. oops, forgot about the shifter on my mods list :bang: no forced induction on the horizon for my car, i like to use all engine, so i can brag even more when i smoke those cocky ricers. plus i dont have an extra 3 grand laying around. whats this about the Steeda timing adjuster? why would that be a good mod? there has been one thing bugging me about all these mods....they all say between 7-15 hp (on avarage) but if you put a few of these on, will it make extra gain, or is there any combos that will be to any advantage? thanks again :hail2:
 
From what I know most of the companies use a high end or medium end vehicle when they post their gains and almost always are talking about to the flywheel.
Most mods will see better gains in conjunction with other mods of a related system. IE the pullies and timing adjuster. I havent bought my adjuster yet, but I've heard a lot of good things about the gains with both. I'll probly be getting the Accufab kit next.
As far as the steeda pullies and the SC the pullies and install arent even close to what I am talking about as far as my mod tree. Im talking more headers and gears stuff thats extremely expensive to buy and install. Why pay 400-900 for nice headers that just wont work with a mod down the road.
 
my car is a manual. i thought that the chip and the programmer come hand-in-hand with eachother. like you needed the programmer to make the chip work right. what is the advantage and ease of using a programmer?
