Which motor mounts?

I need to replace my motor mounts and I'm not sure which ones to go with. Do the polyurethane mounts really deflect less or are they mainly just longer lasting? I'm trying to eliminate all of my drivetrain slop and make the car more responsive so I'll go with poly if they really do make a difference. It's a daily driver so soild mounts aren't an option. Opinions?

If poly is the way to go, which brand is best? I know Prothane mounts raise the engine up slightly so those are out. I see that UPR is selling their own mounts for $85, and that there are a ton of generic ones on ebay for around $75 that sellers are claiming to be identical to or better than Energy Suspension (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford...13QQitemZ230206981337QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V). Has anyone tried either of those?

How long did your vert mounts hold up? Did they seem to hold the engine in place pretty firmly or do you think poly would do better?

I know you said no solid mounts but I had solid motor mounts I had little vibration and of course no flex. Just a thought

I would reccomend the poly mounts for a DD. I put those in my car last winter and it was worth it. Mine are prothane mounts and I know you said that you don't want those, but I have zero complaints about them. I had the stockers in there before and they were totally worn out. My engine would flop around like a wet noodle every time you would blip the throttle.

I picked up a solid billet anchor from mustangsunlimited (I think) that quickly connected or disconnected from the block for racing purposes.

Best of both worlds. Solid when you want it and comfort when you are driving to work. If you have a multiple purpose car it's worth considering for a nominal cost.

I doubt I would ever use solid motor mounts for other than a purpose built car.

I have the Energy Suspension mounts and like them. Keep the motor in place without vibration.

I just put the Energy Suspension mounts in mine, no vibrations either.

Polyurethane is definately the way to go for a street car.

I went with Prothane because I wanted to raise the engine. I can definitely tell there is more vibration over the stock rubber ones, but I'm happy with them.

Poly is the way to go. Much stronger and less movement of the engine. BTW it is also a good mount for your tranny. My gear shift used top bounce up and down now its solid.

I changed everything on my car to poly. It made a noticeable difference.
