Which of these Exhausts should i go with

I am going to upgrade my exhaust after this stupid ass holiday is done sucking my money down (valentines day).

what should i go with

The difference in price is not what i care about, just want more power, sound is a bit less important.

I have cat-back on my car, its flowmaster 40 im pretty sure, and i plan to get headers as well, What mid pipe should i go with and does anyone have a suggestion about what headers in the future?

If you are getting Longtubes, don waste your money now on a midpipe, simply just get a matching one installed with the longtubes. And if you are thinking about doing shorty's dont do them, the gain is very small.

Well for the time being, Im guessing the pypes yields more flow of air then the bbk because the bbk has the clamshell design...Some people do not like how the bbk x's sound with flows because it pops and crackles instead of giving a nice smooth tone...I vote pypes because it will sound better since you have flows already.

Go at least with midlength or longtube headers. Shorties are a waste. My bassani mids with matching x pipe is awesome.

If going with headers, go long tubes, or none. A lot of guys don't like the sound of the BBK x, but I found with the Predater 93 tune and 94 octane fuel it sounds good. The BBK x gives me good power gains as you can see with my sig. But it sounds like there's an exhaust leak with an 87 tune and fuel. I won't change to another x, because of the results on the track. Tough to argue with that.

Do i NEED a tune if i change out the headers for long tubes and the midpipes to match?

I have the money for the exhaust (probably and if not ill wait a bit to do them at the same time) but not the money for the tune, should i wait for all of these things at the same time? i want to get the pipes sooner than later but if my cars gonna run funny without a tune i obviously wont be getting them without the tune.

if i spend $175 on pypes mid pipes (for stock/shortys) im looking at 10-15 HP <---
if i go this route i guess i will not be getting headers

if i spend $360 on pypes LT headers and $109 on their matching mid's (plus installation because im lazy) am i looking at 30-40 HP?

Swapping from stock to ANY midpipe will give you a nice gain and it shouldnt really matter what brand it is, especially if you go with an o/r pipe. My advice is pick something that you like (sound wise) matched to the flowmasters. I'd stick with an o/r h pipe, or prochamber for flows.

What other mods are done to the car? On a STOCK car, I'd venture to say LT's are worth 10-15rwhp, and the o/r pipe 5-10rwhp. These are conservative estimates.

its a 2001 mustang gt coupe

it has k&n cold air intake system thingie

some kind of gears unknown to me ( i have had 99-04 mustang gts before and the shift points are off)

^^^^^^ in regard to this, if im shifting AT redline (6000-6100 rpms) at 60 (maybe 58)mph in second gear what kind of gears do you think i have?

i have cat-back exhaust as it is and i was told that the car has headers by the dealership but the headers look a bit rusty to be aftermarket if it does have headers (which i doubt) they are shortys and i have no problem replacing them

you get what you pay for man, especially with pacesetters as ive heard from others.

post pics of your exhaust and well help you out.

ive heard MAC LT's are pretty good too, and they dont get too expensive plus the matching o/r h or prochamber sound tits with flows

well

my 01 Gt keeps throwing the code for o2 sensors before and after cats are reading the same mix. So i put my car up on stands and guess what, I have a hole in my midpipes IN FLORIDA I HAVE A RUST HOLE IN MY MIDPIPES what the fek is that?

so i guess i will have to go with some mid pipes for my stock headers and MAYBE go with shortys later, i found ones with a super nice price on a MAC x-pipe and i guess ill just get shorty headers at some other time (maybe when i get my small ass refund) if you guys think they would even be worth getting

Dude, go to mustangexhaust.com and listen to the profiles they have listed. Any change to mid pipe or exhaust header will make more power. If you don't want the 'cracking noise' go with an h-pipe vice an x-pipe. The performance difference between the designs is a tradeoff between low end torque (advantage H), and high end power (advantage X). H will give you the classic muscle car rumble. X will give you the exotic european resonation. Go with what makes you happy cuz its your ride.

As for headers, don't waste your time with shorties. A properly tuned set of midlength replacements will get good results. Howerver, nothing will open up the low end torque on a NA 4.6 like a good set of long tubes. On the downside it will double the cost of clutch replacement.

As for mufflers, may I humbly suggest that you listen to a set of Spin-Tech on a long tube setup. I think you may find the setup to be quite inspiring.

Like I said, its your car, go with what makes you happy.

Exhaust systems are something I would always take 3-4 tries to get right, so, until you hear the setup IN PERSON that you like, save your money. It will only help you.

SLP is for GM, not Ford. Magnaflow is the Ford version.
