Most of you know the issues I've had with the 331.

The engine is coming out again, and I want to remove the dipstick issue (modified stock pan) out of the equation... and might as well add some fluid capacity while I'm at it.

So my question is, which direction would you go?

Cheap? (Still need to price the dipstick itself as it doesn't come with it.) Anyone used this company?

Or would you go not so cheap with the T-style pan?

I like the fact that everything comes with this second one including magnetic plugs. But it does cost over $100 more. My budget.... well it's blown out of the water already. :bang:

Can I get this stuff cheaper some where else? HELP!!! :hail2:

And thanks for the feedback. :D

that first pan looks like a Proform I bought one shortly after that I removed it and run it over with the truck (they are junk) Buy a good pan first Moroso,Hamburgers, or even a Canton. That T pan looks like it would make gettin to your starter an absolute bear man why not just a 7qt. deep job. you can get a 7 qt deep with tray by Hamburgers for $210.00 in Jegs

I don't plan to lower the car, but I still wouldn't want a pan that stuck down that far. Or is it not that bad? Still looking around.

Never thought about the starter. Anyone used a T-pan and tried to change the starter?

I have a 7 qt on my 347 the bottom of the pan is level with K member it doesn't hang down below it and that is with conv. mounts. Canton makes a Stock Eliminator pan that is similar to a stock one but with all the good internal features

I have a DSS pan...7qts and it sits flush with the bottom of the Kmember. Starter's easy to get to (I know I changed one since the motor) and they say it fits longtubes so there you go. I've been running it for 4-5 yrs no problems yet. Only issues I know of with it is that you cant use a MM 4-pt kmember brace with it, found that out the hard way. But most of you dont use those so yea, there you go.

I have the canton kickout t-style with windage tray and crank scraper. I have a JW explode proof bell housing on my c4-READ HUGE, HEAVY, 3" thick aluminum and Bassani stepped long tubes with a D&D k member. I dont know about a stock starter as I bought a clockable mini-starter, but that one fit fine. I really needed the clocking becasue of the long tubes.

Moroso has a t-style pan, which I would recommend...I have personally seen one tand everything looked well made.

As mentioned before, dont waste your money on the Pro-form pan. You'll have trouble from the start. Go with a moroso or canton...I am almost 99% sure moroso is the same pan (or the same manufacturer) as the canton. Ditch the factory dip stick. Put a freeze plug in that holw and get a good screw in (moroso or canton pans have provisions for screw in dip sticks) dipstick and be done with it.

The T-style is a PIA with it makes access or changing a starter near impossible with a long tube header.

The bad issue with the Moroso is the flat back, since it doesn't kick in at the rear it has no clearance for the bolts on a blow proof bell, it also makes converter bolt access a nightmare.

I pretty much only use Cantons 15-620S or Stefs. The only issues with the Canton in a SN series car is the k-member is tight, and on a convertible you lose the one rear brace, other wise they fit very nice and if you get the kick they come with a Universal dipstick and a new pick-up. If you need one let me know if I can help. I prefer to tap the stock dipstick hole and put in a 1/8"NPT plug.

Sorry for being so late...yes it uses the stock dipstick location. You need a longer dipstick tho. I use a stock one and when theres 7qts in there I get a drop of oil at the tip of the dipstick, so if the stick is dry I add 1/2 a qt. at a time till the dip reads "7 qts." I picked it cuz I open track the car and it has nice baffling and the sump sits really low too to help prevent oil from sloshing away from the sump.
