I'm gonna be putting together a new short block soon. I plan on using my DSS main support, along with my Moroso 7qt deep sump pan, part#20511. I also think I'm gonna run a standard volume oil pump this time. My problem is that the oil pump pickup sits on top of the main support, and as a result there is zero clearance between the pick-up and the oil pan. Has anyone else run into this problem? In the past I had to cut and re-weld my pick-up to make it a 1/2" shorter. I am trying to avoid doing that this time.

Use the pick-up made by your pan manufactor, almost all pick-up's require some tweaking and bending to fit properly around a main girdle.

It fits around the girdle OK. It's just that the DSS girdle is pretty thick, and the pick-up has to sit on top of it, which makes the pick-up sit way too deep. I have to shorten it by 1/2" to 3/4". I'm hoping I'll be able to just bend it this time.

Any chance that a Canton pick-up would work with my Moroso pan? Both pans are 9" deep, but only Canton seems to make a pick-up specifically for use with a main support.
