Hey guys I am going to go with a Romac balancer and just wondered if I need the 28 or 50 oz and where is the best place to buy them from?

Thanks!

50 oz if its the stock rotating assembly.

Most strokers and 70's and earlier motors use 28oz.

I got mine on ebay.

My engine builder put a 28oz Romac on my 331. Stock balance is 50 oz. I had to buy an adapter to get the balancer to work.

I wish now I had just bought another Pioneer and used it.

This is where I got my 50 oz from. NO modifications, just put it on and go.

If you had to use an adaptor he got you the wrong one to begin with.

Romacs are a direct fit also, just got to get the right one.

I have heard good things about the Pioneer also though.

ATI's are highly rated also, but $$$.

for a 28oz balancer, they use a earlier style balancer, thats why adapters are made for late models, it a very common thing to do.

The only thing that sucks. I was given a part number for a Professional Products. The balancer is SFI and rated to 10,000 I believe. The adapter, if I remember right it's only rated to 6,500, something like that - kinda scary. I hoped they erred on the LOW side when coming up with that number.
