Can't decide on a shifter for my T-5. Any suggestions? I want something sporty looking and short throw. Pics or links please. Thanks.

different people are going to say different things. i prefer the tri-ax myself. most people are gonna say mgw, and a few with say pro 5.0 as well.

If I was going to buy one brand new, it would be the MGW. But if there was a good deal on a used Pro 5.0 I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

I have the UPR in the Notch, it's okay nothing great way better than stock.
We have the MGW in our 01' Cobra, not really a fan of it though. My Uncle did have a MGW in his 99' GT that I loved! Don't know why they feel different, maybe the transmission.

I love the MGW shifter.

I've got a Hurst short throw. Required a lot of trimming of the inner boot, but it shifts great. Allows the use of the stock knob. However since it's shorter, u will be having to reach farther forward unless the new handle really kicks back some. Make sure u don't have to trim anything before u make ur purchase if that's a big deal for u. When they say "direct fit" that does not always equal "no trimming required."

I run a b&m pro ripper and dont have any complaints. Just find a good deal on one and try it for yourself. I also doubt there is much of a difference between them all.

If I were buying a new one I think it would have to be the MGW. Currently I have the Pro-50 short throw with a tri-ax handle and it great. The tri-ax handle bends back...unlike the one supplied with the Pro50.

tri-ax, take it from someone who worked at steeda.. the quality is far superior to anything else, and if something happens to it (breaks) send it back for free for a replacement or rebuilt..

So it sounds like MGW or Tri-ax are getting the thumbs up. The Pro 5.0 is a close third. I think I am at least leaning toward a steeda knob, I like the leather with the aluminum. it would go good with the rest of the alum. I have in the interior.
When you guys are talking about noise, what are you meaning? Is it just better and deadening the sound and vibration from the trans? Or the shifter it's self?

When I had the MGW in the cobra, the whine in 5th gear was a lot more noticeable then with the stocker. You just get a little more transmission noise and vibration out of a aftermarket shifter.

MGW has a lifetime warranty and they have great customer service, I agree the steeda is nice also so you couldn't go wrong with either. my vote mgw 1st steeda 2nd.
Needless to say, any shifter is better than stock, and most people have personal preference.

I totally agree with you, but I'm asking for suggestions for me to decide from, not which one is the best.
I figure it's the best way to weed out the good from the bad. Now I have some options to go with, I didn't know about MGW shifters until this thread. And I doubt someone is going to suggest a shifter that's poorly made and is going to break all the time or not fit properly.
I still haven't decided on which one yet, but I do like the look of the tri-ax.
