Which Subframe Connectors?

Hello everyone. I have a choice between Maximum Motorsports XL Series subframes found here or Steeda ones found here. Which would you guys go with, and why? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I do not yet have a strut tower brace. Is it okay to do subframes without the brace, should I do them concurrently, or should I do the brace first? Which will give me better results for the money (cost is about the same)? Thanks!

I don't think a strut tower brace is really a must do mod fo the normal driver. it should be done after shocks, struts, subframes, springs, lca's, phb IMO unless you just want it in your engine compatment for looks. it would be one of the last suspention mods you should do IMO.

as far as subframes I go I looked at global west and MM. I went MM because of the quality of there other parts. they are a bit more robust than the steeda so I think I would go with them over the steeda as steeda copied thier old design basically.

+1 for MM, although I heard nothing but good things about Global West.

MM has a new design which is now longer if I'm not mistaken, which should be good for beefing up your chasis.

From what Tom says, the STB is basically only for aesthetic pusposes, and he's one of the more knowledgable suspension people around here.

MM works
+1 about the STB the only reason mine is there(now) is so I have somthing to lean on when cleaning the engine bay. That and it matches my spark plug wires. But 8 years ago I would have told you that thing made my car corner way flatter.

I have the Kenny Brown Extreme Matix Brace kit. Unfortunately, they're out of business now so I'm a +1 for the MM kit. A friend of mine I race with did his subs first (Steeda full-length), then a strut tower brace. He said he didn't notice the slightest difference after adding the STB.

As for the subframe connectors, Mine are my only handling mod and they basically took the car from its factory under-steer tendancy to neutral handling on their own. I can go into all corners alot quicker now without pushing wide. Now If I could just get the MM rear grip kit so I can get on the power harder coming off the corners...

Also, you don't need a STB. The front end of the chassis is stiff enough unless you're a vert. The problem with our 40 year old chassis is that the front and rear sections of the car are mainly connected to each other with the floorpan, which obviously flexes since it's basically sheetmetal. The benefit of adding a SFC is to "stiffen" the connection between the front and rear to stop the flexing.

Just make sure to get it welded on by a good welder, or if you're adept at it do it yourself. Also make sure to paint over the welds when done.

Thanks a lot everybody. It seems like Maximum Motorsports is the way to go. They're actually a few bucks cheaper, too .

I'm sorry for being annoying, but for those of you who have gotten subframes, did they improve ride quality or reduce the Mustang shakes, rattles, and jiggles which we're all accustomed to? Logic tells me they would, but I would like to hear it from the horse's mouth. Again, thanks!

MM all the way, best quality. You will notice a big difference, especially in the first hard turn you take. They also do help to get rid of squeeks, but my car is so loud I could not tell a difference in noise. Also do something before the STB first, it does not do much and it is a pitb to install properly.

the car just drives different. feels more solid. I still get some rattles on rough surfaces becuse my springs are stiff. mainley from the radio bezel and ac vents. that is my only real rattle issue.

I can guaranty you if you do subframes and LCA's you will absolutly think you are driving a different car in the corners. no more fishtailing oversteer. I did mine at the same time so I don't know which helped more I just know that it was night and day change.

My MM STB tightened up the front end a little and the XLSFCs tightened up the body quite a bit, definitely worth the money

I have the full length steeda's. Did not know about the MM's at the time, but I have no regrets. Whatever you do, don't get anything but a full-length subframe, those small ones are crap but better than nothing I guess. I highly recommend the steeda's as they really stiffened up my ride, made it feel more solid less twisty. Does anyone know how much longer the MM's are?
