Will a T5 transmission from a 1999-2001 V6 Stang work on 1990 302?

I need a transmission for my 1990 302 engine. Will the T5 from any other fords fit? For example can I use a T5 from a newer stang? If so what years? Or does it have to be a 87-93 T5 from a Mustang only?

Thanks for any guidance.

You can use a t-5 from mustangs from the 85 up to 93. 94 and up T-5 had a longer input shaft. You can use a T-5 from thunderbirds also, but they are 4 cyl trans so they are not as strong. Here is a good chart to refer to when buying a used trans http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2000/09/t5swap/index2.shtml

Mario,

Thanks for your reply. I found a T5 from a 99-01 V6 Mustang the seller claims that they changed it to the proper input shaft for use on 1990-1991 Mustang V8. Does this make sense?

Can I use a T5 from 1999-2001 Mustang V6 just by changing the input shaft? Will it bolt up to my stock bellhousing, clutch, pressure plate, etc...?

Thanks!!

99-01's have the T45 transmission...it won't fit as far as I know...

You can use 94-95 T5's...that is what I have in my car...just changed it to a shorter input shaft...

Thanks David,

The trans from the V6 I am looking at has the following ID 1352-260. This ID on the T5 ID chart says: 1999-2001 Mustang 6cyl
elec speedo WC

The person selling it says that they changed the input shaft to allow it to be used on 90-91 Mustang 5.0 with stock bellhousing, clutch, flywheel etc...

Can anyone confirm this??

Thanks
