When I ordered my Mcleod clutch kit from Maximum Motorsport I also ordered the MM TOB. I have no clue what brand it is but I hope I'm hoping it's better than the Ford.
please let us know. I just ordered the McLeod clutch too, but im not installing it for a few months so ive got some time to think about the TOB.

Don't count on it! I ordered the exact same kit and had it professionally installed. My stock throwout bearing didn't squeak for the first 64,000 miles. Once I had the new clutch and bearing installed it was fine for about 3000 miles, then it started to squeak even worse than the stock one did before. It's embarrassing now, to say the least. I've played with the firewall adjuster and it hasn't made a difference so far. I'm thinking of having a FRPP heavy duty throwout bearing installed.

If that doesn't help, I may apply a set of cricket decals to my rocker panels. :nice:

When I had my Mcleod clutch installed at ford I also bought the FRPP HD TOB and it started making noises about after 20 miles. :notnice:. Dont know if it was the TOB or the install though.

either it was defective (which is possible) or your installer screwed up somewhere along the way, but I doubt that your case is representative of everyone who uses that TOB. I've got 1200 on my King Cobra (with whatever TOB comes with the kit) and no noise, just a very smooth clutch :nice:

The KC comes with the 7548-A HD TOB. Which, BTW is the exact same TOB from Federal Mogul that I bought at Oreilly's. Same exact part numbers stamped on the bearing, only the Ford had the Ford logo stamped on it. Its all marketing hype...

:D thanks, we try:nice:

it just bothers me that Frpp just re-packs some "stock" FoMoCo parts and then labels them as "High Performance" and the consumer thinks he or she is getting a better product:nonono: guess thats just the American way:shrug: everything is "new & improved"
And like I said in a earlier post, both the "HD" and the "Ford Genuine Parts" stocker, are nothing more than the Federal Mogul/BCA bearing #614014. It even has the Ford part#F7ZZ-7548-AA stamped on it.

ok, so then is it FoMoCo part in a F/M box that you bought at a parts store:rlaugh:

BCA* makes the TOB for Ford:D

*BCA = Bearing Corp of America (used to be Bowers) and they make ALL kinds of bearings
